Hi All – Just a quick question. Anyone know if Engi kits count as conjured weapons? I’m asking bc I was looking for cheap rune alternatives and saw the description for Superior Rune of the Engineer, which basically says that when holding a conjured weapon, kits and other things do +7% damage. I feel like it can’t be that easy or more people would use it, but I also feel like the rune would be so pointless if they’re only talking about Ele conjured weapons that that can’t be right either, lol. Thanks for any info.

The rune flat out says it works on kits, and it’s called rune of the ENGINEER for cryin’ out loud! (Yes, it’ll work as long as you’re not using your rifle/pistol)

Yes, it’s practically a free 7% damage increase.

No, it’s not quite as good as it sounds, (Min-Maxers generally aren’t going to touch the runes that don’t increase a direct damage stat) which is why it’s not more widely used, but it’s far from the worst choice among the cheaper runes.

FYI, it works on anything considered a “weapon bundle” that replaces your weapon skills, aside from ones that do no damage to begin with. Obviously it has the best synergy with Engi kits, but that applies to other class skills like the Ele weapons and Warrior Banners. But also things like rocks you pick up or weapon kits that come as consumable items like the frost gun or Jezza’s flamethrower.

only if they’re running a direct damage build, but in general hybrid builds under perform outside of pvp(where they can still be iffy), you either take damage modifiers and power/prec/fero or condi duration and condi dmg, instead of splitting between tough/condi and a multiplier

Zomg…I misread the grammar of the description, rofl. I was reading it as – when you are wielding a conjured weapon, all of those other things do 7% more damage. Which of course makes no sense. Sigh.

I’m unfortunately forced by RL to be a casual player for at least another couple years here so I don’t know the math of the stats and stuff as well as I’d like but it sounds like it’s decent enough for now vs. paying 80+ gold for 6 runes of strength. Thanks for the info guys.

If you’re constantly lighting things on fire, flame legion, especially in groups.

As suggested, you do have viable and much cheaper alternatives that would likely cost less for a full set than a single Rune of Strength.
*Flame Legion= +7% vs burning
*Ogre= +4% always
*Eagle= +6% vs foes below 50%
*Ranger= +7% while having a pet or summoned ally

We did the math on a lot of runes recently. Obviously Scholar is the best.

Flame Legion is a good cheap alternative with 4-6% less dps than Scholar (It depend on your burning). But for that you need to make sure you land Napalm and take the Incendiary Ammo trait.

Strength is 7% less dps than Scholar. It’s expansive and even if the engineer can give might, it’s usually not his job in most party because of warrior so not a good idea.

Thief is as good as Ranger, but you need to hit from flank and back, which won’t happen with most grenades so not a good option.

Eagle is 5-6% less dps than Scholar.

Rage is 6-7% less dps than scholar.

Pack is around 8% less dps than scholar so it’s not that good of a choice in group content. But in solo situation it’s actually a very good option because of the fury you can gain. In a solo situation Pack only have 2% less dps and you don’t need to worry to keep your hp high.
