People like to link the Engineer to the GW1 Ritualist because of turrets and Ritu’s stationary spirits.

However, Engineers only have offensive Turrets aside from the Healing turret.
How about Turrets that like GW1 Spirits add an AoE effect that can support?

Turret Idea #1: Compound turret, randomly spewing a combo field (Fire, Ethereal, Dark, Water etc) that lasts 2 seconds every 10 secs.

Turret Idea #2: Blocking turret, randomly grant an ally near the turret Aegis triggers once every 20 seconds?

Turret Idea #3: Boon turret, grant all allies near the turret one random boon for 1-2 seconds. Every 8 seconds.

Turret Idea #4: Absorbing Turret, randomly direct incoming damage from one ally to the turret once every 20 seconds?

Turret Idea #5: Crowd Controller Inverter Turret, incoming crowd control effects on one random ally in turret range are reverted to one random enemy. Daze-> Player -> Launch Enemy.

I can go on and on with idea’s for turrets, why have these kinds of turrets not been implemented in the game from the first day? Why only offensive stuff and no defensive/supporting stuff? Why only traits to reduce incoming damage instead of expanding turret health pool and such?

I would love to see support turrets added to give engineer a base-building feel. Like you could get maybe 2-3 engineers in WvW and set up a mock-base with turrets that acts as a quick resupply in the form of healing and boons.

Another idea for turrets would be the ability to create walls similar to the guardian. It could be a skill in which you place two turrets and they connect to make a wall of reflection or line of warding. That, or a trait that connects all your turrets to create lines of combo fields (randomly chosen but remain as long as the turrets perhaps)

Yeah, I agree. Engi’s would go from being very offensively-based to having a lot of different build options including a plethora of support styles. How about a turret that transports a condition from an ally to a nearby enemy every 10 seconds? Or maybe a turret that can teleport a downed ally some considerable distance away from the battle area so as to be able to heal and revive? An Elixir turret (a lot like bettadenu’s boon turret)? A turret that gives its own health to other turrets/players in the surrounding area (it lose health in this way)?

I really like the compound turret, the blocking turret and the absorbing turret.

Yes please. On top of that, add some new traits that affect turrets and fix the old ones.

On top of everything I’d love to see turrets give stability somehow. Either a trait that makes turrets pulse stability or a new turret that gives stability. They’re already really fragile, so I wouldn’t call this “permanent” stability OP
