FA – On Wednesdays We Wear [PINK]
Xysynra (Ele), Syranyx (Necro)
Hey guys, well, I have about 5 sylvari and am looking to add another one (they’re the coolest, obviously). Would like to play an engineer, yet the plant vs. mechanical technology is kinda throwing me off a bit. I think it could be a cool combination, but I was just curious as to how those of you who have Sylvari engineers have decked them out. What kind of armor are you using? Or is there a page you can reference me to where I can check some of you out. Just want to see how plant elf works with technology haha.
According to lore Silvari plant-bioengeneering is on the same level as Charr technology. The silvary turrets are actually better than the original and their skills come with interesting toolbeltskills. I like the idea of

Also, if you look at Scarlett, one of the most kitten engeneers is actually a Silvari already That aside they are my favourite class from all the costumizing options character creation allows.
@Hebee : That’s really cool! What kinda armor is that, you know?
@Aram : Lol thank you for pointing that stuff out, pretty neat. I do think that’s pretty neat, combining plant-like skills with engineer capabilities. I didn’t know they had a Toolbelt skill like that, thanks for bringing it to my attention.
I tend to think of the Sylvari engineers as the ones most likely to have elixirs (herbal of course and all natural with no artificial flavors, colors or you know the good stuff).
Head: Starter Goggles
Shoulders: Aetherblade
Chest: Heritage Medium Armor (3 points in Hall of Monuments minimum)
Gloves: Aetherblade
Legs: Magitech
Boots: Magitech
Here’s my main. I’ve changed looks a bunch of times, eventually settled on current theme because it goes with the emissary of the mad king.
There aren’t any sylvari racial skills that I would take over class ones, although I have on rare occasions taken grasping vines for the block toolbelt skill (only one that we can use while carrying a bundle, even though the duration is quite short).
Very cool guys, thanks for posting! Yeah I wouldn’t take a cultural skill over profession normally, but just to try it out :P Thanks
Sylvari have a lot of seed turret defenses and the like that mimic human/charr weapons, so I don’t think they’re strangers to technology at all— they just like to put their own spin on it. Here’s my Sylvari engineer:
I love the way the plant life them blends into the armors simply based on skin to dye matching. I rare one of the more rare to see Arah sets and just a basic T1 reskin set that I switch between. The racials are very cool in terms of the tool belt utilitys they gain aswell.
I would say go for it even in the story the Sylvari was one of the major founding technology that was used to help hold the other race’s tech together.
The toxic shoulders looks great on Sylvari. IMO for the plants Cultural is the best synergy. I find that nothing else really fits the race’s “theme”. Equip most other armor and you end up being a green human in armor.
Sylvari, like Asura, really need a more racially consistent look for their turrets and other skills. Pigeonholing every engineer in Tyria into using what looks like Charr technology is quite possibly my biggest gripe with this game.

Lore-wise, every engineer is using charr tech.
“Engineer technology really developed with the Charr first and foremost. And its one of the specialties developed by the Charr Iron Legion. …….. The Iron Legion is the start of all of this, and the Engineer profession has spread to the other races from there. The People of Tyria have seen it in combat over the past few years and have seen the effectiveness of an engineer. And so you are going to see Engineers of all races although it is a little bit more common to see a Charr Engineer than anybody else. So it all started with the Charr and their technological development.”

So other races are starting to incorporate their own tech into the charr tech of the engineer but it is in the form of racials.
Hehe, my go to character these days is a weed with a penchant for gunpowder (kegs of them for the most part). Not much to look at tho, as he is decked out in temple armor (i find the transmutation system annoying).
