im trying this new thing where I try not to call anything OP without understanding it first.

could you tell me a little about the scrapper? what ive seen: he hits mega hard, has a lot of blocks, and has an absurd amount of might (25 stacks that just never decay).

mostly im interested what amulet are you guys achieving this with.

What you need to understand first then is that Scrapper was given less of an additional class functionality than it was gaps to bridge particular combat shortcomings. Since launch we have not had a truly melee based play style, which is what many of these traits appear to be aimed at allowing. In regards to PvP format that roughly translates to being more capable of either taking hits and/or dishing them out.

I will attach a link so that you may look at the Scrapper trait line more in depth, but for now I will summarize. What you are likely witnessing is the potential synergy between Scrapper and Firearms, which basically means that out of combat most Engineers will be resting at 15+ might stacks; quickly escalating to 25 with auto-attacks, runes, sigils etc. Combine this with the potent vulnerability stacking potential of Hammer skills 4/5 and you have a VERY heavy hitter, albeit for a short (vuln) duration. Simply avoid the ridiculously obvious Hammer 5 lightning field and expect it to be followed with the 4th skill, which will only hit foes directly in front of the Engineer and in melee range.

mostly im interested what amulet are you guys achieving this with.

These effects are completely independent of Amulet choice, so you will simply have to observe that by the number of crits you experience per engagement and how hard you hit them as well. Typically, I think you will likely find yourself fighting either Soldier or Marauder.

Please take the time to go over the Scrapper line below as well as tinker around with the existing traits that you think may have contributed to what you have fought, as I think it prove to be an educational experience for future combat.

I appreciate the nature of the OP.

Scrapper is a very brawler-centric sustain spec. Expect any Scrapper you come across to have the ability to outlast you with their evades, blocks, and reflects (if using hammer). The traits are all pretty defensive as well.

Scrapper’s main weakness is range. This can be helped with the right kit(s) but not having a gun certainly limits range capabilities.

My best advice is to kite and maintain poison to slow down the sustain. If you can spike them down they won’t have time to let sustain kick in, though that’s very difficult to do through blocks and evades.

Generic Engi weaknesses persist for the most part. Drop condis (especially poison) and CC on them.

Yep.

That said, keep in mind that some CCs and condis will not be as effective as they have been in the past.

actually scrapper is very strong against condis.with eg and mortar they can remove up to 8 condis while dealing dmg, healing and stacking might. this means that condis that are applied en masse in a short time span are most effective. examples are f.e. condi mesmer where the condis don’t last very long (with the condi removal they wouldn’t anyway) but do their damage with short condition bursts.
the masses of might come from the mix of moloch, mass momentum and hgh / blasts.
that’s the build i ran this weekend: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vdAQFASlUUh2tYtWw6KQ7FL3FFYDGhBA9qH7zu4B9D5AA-TJBBwAAeAAeuAA12fwcZAA
(the runes should be scrapper runes but those seem to not have been added yet)
you’re extremely tanky, have good condiremoval, some stability, a tiny bit cc and dash out quite some dmg with the combination of hammer, perma 25 stacks might, 41% crit chance over 50% of the time (100% if you’re lucky with the throw) and the additional burn dmg.
edit: you can play this also with marauder amulet and i think cele might also be not bad.
