The Engi of Bursting
Damage-wise, I don’t know if dropping HGH will really be a good tradeoff. The additional might stacks and boon duration can easily compensate for the +% bonuses, and you will be able to keep some nice things like cleaning formula or party bonuses through things like the runes of altruism.
I’m also not sure what your basis is for dismissing HGH as the reasons you give do not seem to be at odds with what HGH build are capable of.
Of course, if you want to use a build without elixirs, then HGH is completely irrelevant.
I would also consider using carrion gear with this build since you will retain all the condition damage but also gain significant direct damage. Of course, the toughness will go down, so it will not be as tanky. However, the focus on pistols in the traits indicates this build is to be played primarily from a mid-range position, so tankiness might not be the highest priority in a group fight.
It should also be noted that coated bullets may or may not be that helpful in condition spreading. the AoE on explosive shot will not inflict bleeding, and the piddly direct damage this build will have will make that quite insignificant.
It’s a bit though to see how all this is designed to work without any suggestions of utilites, although I hadn’t really paid attention to the runes of scavenging to see that 6-piece bonus. Given the tankiness of the dire gear and the focus on burning, it might be possible to use this in conjunction with the flamethrower and the juggernaut trait to gain additional might stacks for extra damage, extra burning, and more toughness. However, I would generally pick runes of the forge for such a build instead of scavenging runes, but it’s perhaps the better option for overall damage output in that case.

You can keep about 15-20 stack of might, witch is 2100+ condi damage, 70% condi duration, 36% crit chance (with precision stacks), while you keep all utilities what you loose with HGH builds for sloting elixirs.

Basicly you have 3 stacks from Sigil, 3 from trait and 3 from runes. Due to 40% might duration you can pretty much do it again before first stack disappear so you can have about 18 stacks just from this. Also you have 3 blast finishers and fire field its another 6 stacks to use.

Alternatively you can simply replace healing turret with a medkit. Remember to switch to medkit every 10 seconds or so while in combat and you can easily maintain 20+ might stacks.

Pfffft @ med kit, I’ve been spoiled or deceived by water field xplosions. And not being able to reach a med kit while immobilized annoys me to no end. Just kidding, med kit 5 is AWESOME!
