Sea Of Sorrows
Hey everyone, so my friends who I got to start playing all hit level 80 and we want to run around wvw… There are about 8 of us. I want to lead them as a mini zerg, but am not sure if there are any particularly basr builds that will allow me to stay alive, do a little damage and support my friends some how. My main is a necro and I’m new to the engi class, so and tips would be greatly appreciated.
thanks a ton – Atrech [CNB] Kaineng

Roll necro and be a complete boss.
I actually recently made a topic regarding a universal defensive/support build. You can easily tailor it to your preferences; it works with any utility abilities you could want to use. I’ve been using it with cleric’s gear and a healing-centric variant, but just before that I was going full tank, so it’s entirely up to you.
The overall thread, and a few example variants, are here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/engineer/Universal-Support-Defense-Build/
If you wantto stay alive, I’d go with a Rabid or Apothecary set. They go with defensive stats while still maintaining high damage due to conditions. We can also apply various conditions which is great for that. I really suggest the tool kit. 3 , 4, and 5 are great. 4 is a block for 3 seconds every 20 seconds, which adds some survivability. You have a long range pull and a nice confusion burst. The pull is great to focus burst someone with your group.
Healing turret is an amazing heal for groups. It’s a short duration water field and you can blast in it for group heals. On top of my head I can think of 4 blast finishers you can use inside it. F1 when healing turret is detonated, 4 on shield off hand, Rocket Boots and 4 on Elixir Gun. If you do these very quickly you can heal yourself for 5k + 4 blast finisher: 5.2k area heal.
As for traits, I don’t find we have the greatest options for support however, I feel like alchemy is a great line to invest in if you want survivability. I almost always take 20 in tools too, just to have the reduction cooldown on tool kit. 16 second cooldown on block I also feel Speedy Kits is necessary just to get around faster and avoid melee attacks.
You could try a cc engineer! They don’t kill stuff as easily as condition engineers do in WvW but they’re fun in groups and they can really lock people down. They’re also very flexible. All you need is a rifle, probably the toolkit, and your choice of either even more cc, damage, or support as your last two utility slots.
