Hey guys,

So I have absolutely no experience with Engineers but I have a Juggernaut and although I absolutely love hammer guard, I’m excited to see how hammer will perform on an Eng with the new XPAC.

I figured, since I’m bored, that I’ll go ahead and make an eng so it’ll be ready by the time the XPAC comes around.

What’s the best EotM/PvE build to follow? Any tips regarding levelling an Engg?

Who else is super excited for the prospect hammer offers? I’m hoping it’ll be a high dps wep with the mobility that hammer guard lacks.

Cheers,

Pranav

Exactly! Haha I’m so excited! I’ve worked too kitten my Jugg to play any other wep so I’m really glad I’ll have another option besides guard/warr. I do still love my guard but I’m really excited to try it out with eng! The trailer does not disappoint.

about leveling engi:
equip bombkit, run in circles. win.
Works for every PvE content.
keep in mind to unlock speedy kits on lvl 34 and you’re golden speed-wise.
rocketboots for traveling-convenience, elixir S (toolbelt) for skipping stuff.

for PvP check metabattle.com
for Eotm farming I recommend flamethrower, toolkit and elixir S.
flamethrower is awesome for tagging stuff and toolkit / elixir S should prove enough panic-buttons to survive. Equip for eotm should be something tanky, like soldiers, knights and such alike

regardless what you do:
- read the wiki (all articles) about the engi
- try out all your utilities
- memorize which skills drop fields, which are combo-finishers
- use multi-kits early on to get used with switching often between them
- use nades early on to target-practice with them
- never hesitate to ask if something behaves unexpected, or you want further tipps.

Engineer is love, Engineer is life.

Horrik’s bazooka should totally replace the mortar elite.

Horrik’s bazooka should totally replace the mortar elite.

Thats exactly the idea i got. Basically same skills like the mortar just mobile…heck give it an ammo limit to balance it out or maybe a movement speed reduction cause it does seem like a rather heavy weapon and let it scale with the armor like our kits do now and let it crit and you got a menace in wvw, pvp and pve alike. Just imagine engineers shooting heavy explosive shells up keep walls…or down keep walls, giving carpet bombing support for their team in pvp or just heavy dps from range on a boss or champion while dropping healing aoes onto the team members that currently engage the enemie in close combat. Man.. this would be so kittening amazing.

For PvE, you can set your “about face” button on a convenient hotkey, equip E-gun and use #4 for fast traveling in conjunction with rocket boots. I love to equip 2 kits and one other utility.
Furthermore, use healing turret, spam the skill while deploying the turret a couple of times and you should activate the water field instantaneously. This can then be utilized with rifle #5, shield #4, rocket boots, explode turret, big ol bomb, egun #4 or any other blast or jump finisher you can think of. It is very rewarding to play and as opposed to a warriors healing skill you can do some crazy stuff with it. Overcharging the turret furthermore clenses 2 conditions.
Elite always supply crate (blast finisher) and you are all set.
It is an awesome class if you like complex and challenging gameplay!

Thanks for all the help guys! Really pumped to level him up in anticipation of the hammer. Trying my best not to use tomes haha!

The engineer community, like the guard community, seems very nice and helpful! I’m glad to see that! A couple other professions’ subforums aren’t so nice.. not gonna take any names haha.

well if you never made an engi before i really do suggest to hold back with the tomes…well get it up to lvl 20 so you got atleast some features unlocked…cause with just the engineerĀ“s “main” weapon…as far as you can call rifles, pistols and shields main weapons you really dont get enough to work with. After you unlocked 1-2 kits i really suggest to level “manually” and get used to switching kits or potions and the toolbelt abilities
