Server : Anvil Rock (Since Release!) [SOLO]
(edited by Kardiamond.6952)
Hi there!
Last week, I was theocrafting and decided to setup a gimmick build only for fun. I used it in pvp ffor sometime and it actually pretyt good, well for me.
This build resolve around stacking as much might as you can (up to 25 in a fight) and using Elixir X for insane result, especially with tornado in group fights.
Here a short video about it :

Notes :
- Any attack from tornado will knockback when you are near the ennemy. I prefer to use #1 attack because it mimics Static Discharge and does crazy damage when you are in a group of ennemy. (5 ennemy = 5 DS at the same time, bouncing between them)
- Tornado seems to have a mini pulse attack going on. Meaning that confusion is your worse ennemy (like Mesmer weren’t annoying already). It’s gonna hit you like a truck.
- Giant is weird. You can really focus a single player and keep it stunned for a good amount of time. But some skill like the shoulder charge and the kick won’t always hit even if you are directly in front of them. It’s particulary buggy when you are on the move.
- Elixir C is incredible. You lack any kind of conditions removal in this build, so you need it. If you get spammed with conditions, popping this will save your life and give you even more boon. If you randomly get some might stack, it’s perfect.
- Spam all your elixir (yes even heal) before a fight. They will be on cooldown, but most of the time, I Net + Rifle combo them then go Elixir X right away. So I won’t need heal anytime soon. You’ll stack might like a foul!
- You have to stack your might before going Elixir X. Stacking 15-20 of might and boons with Elixirs will catapult your efficiency in Elixir X. Your burn on crit will also activate from your attack.
- With your massive HP pool (but low armor) with Elixir X You can hold multiple ennemies on a point. People love to hit the giant or the tornado, so they will all focus on you. Your ally can quietly go cap other points.
- I picked Fast Acting Elixir and Potent Elixir to reduce the cooldown and increase the duration of Elixir X. Elite Supplies has the same effect on Elixir X then Potent Elixir, but both effect won’t stack.
Give it a try, I used to hate Elixir X. But It’s actually pretty good, especially if you get a Tornado in a group of ennemies.

I used to run Elixir X on my old bunker spec because of the knockbacks, but I’ve never had much PvP success with the might stacking builds. They are pretty strong I suppose, but seem to lack that final “punch” to finish the job, which is I guess part and parcel of a lot of the complaints about a lot of our builds. The sustained damage seems pretty strong, though.
Nice video, it was a fun watch.
When under the influence of Elixir X, I gotta say it can be hard to finish somoene. You don’t have a big burst of damage.
But once you get everybody around low HP with heals on cooldown, your Elixir X will dispel and you will be able to combo them to them.
With might stack, even if we don’t have Static discharge, we can still do a final burst with the net shot + blunder + jump shot combo. Overcharge shot them then magnetic pull + Prybar. This combo can finish most people, and is hard to dodge if you land your net.
But I agree with you, this build is more about substained damage. With 15-20 stack of might in average, your rifle auto attack alone can dish 1.2 – 1.7k damage from range. Add to this your burn damage affected by might that can hit for 500 damage a tick and your bleeds from traits.
haha wow! that was so funny to watch!!! I’m going to play around with this for a WvsW build! it’s simply to much fun to watch haha
@Armadeus
I was supose to have some footage from WvW, but I got lazy. I used this build a bit in WvW, it’s not bad at all. But I didn’t have the gear for it (Had berserker stuff, wrong rune, and wrong sigil) making my might buff hard to keep up.
Also, Elixir X is great vs group of ennemies, but in WvW if you become a giant you become the target for everyone, making it really hard.
But you can do crazy hit and run. I was defending pangloss, and was using jump shot + blundershot to hit the zerg. Before they could react, I would use Elixir X, and if I had the luck to get tornado, I would wreck chaos around. Zerg tend to retreat when you put pressure, and it’s exactly what tornado does. If you get low hp, dispel it and use gear shield to return to safety.
I could repeat it each 80 sec for maximum chaos. And it’s epic to be a tornado and wrecking tons of people, throwing them around and zapping them with electric charge.
Hehe exactly the picture’s I have in my mind! That most be so hilarious to do!
Nice Vid, shows how Elixir X can be effect in certain situations. i.e. In WvW I often switch to elixir X for attacking siege, especially when they are near cliffs and what not. Tornado is awesome for that sort of thing, Berserk isn’t bad either. Can’t count how many people I have knocked off the cliff near east camp while they were manning Trebs.
Yeah to knockback of tornado is really great, tho a bit unpredictable.
Tried it again in WvW and Fractal yesterday. WvW it still kick kitten just lvoe tornado.
In Fractal, it’s average. You can stack some might on your ally for extra damage, but the ult itself is lackluster again bosses.
The thing I don’t like about Tornado is you are still able to be hit while in that form, they should change this so you have a few seconds of invulnerability because it doesn’t help if you are fighting a champion or a boss to suddenly be transformed back, and often 1 shot downed. (as many of the mobs do these days, dunno what it is about 1 shotters that are so appealing to the devs but….)
It’s bad enough we have terrible downed skills but to have terrible elites on top of it doesn’t help (the other terrible elite is Mortar). I can understand being hit as a brute because you’re solid, but turning into a whirlpool or a tornado should render you “gone” for all intents and purposes of having a life bar. It only lasts a few seconds and it’s a randomized elite skill let’s have something work properly in this class shall we?
Tornado is only lack luster vs single boss with stability or cc immune.
It can be good in every situation. You can still do some good damage with the static discharge from it, or use blind to buy some time for your team.
By the way, you still get 2x vitality in tornado form, so you get pretty tanky.
15 sec of invulnerability would be OP.
But vs boss in PvE, Supply drop is still the choice to go. And I agree that mortar is really Lackluster, only useful in some gimmick situation in WvW by using #5 on mortar.
