DISCLAIMER: OP knows that he has infact not invented the wheel and many of you have used similar builds during this beta and are planning to use them in the future.
This is the same old FT Juggernaut+HGH build, that is now extremely amplified by the Scrapper traitline, Mass Momentum allows us to stack even more might than before with the FT equipped (about 16 stacks just from sitting idly by with a FT equipped, twice than before) and Adaptive Armor gives us enough sustain to handle most builds I had a chance to come across this beta.
PvP Version :
BUILD
Notes:
- I found that this build works better with a Rifle than a Hammer for the range capabilities and control, you can still use the Hammer (replace Skilled Marksman with No Scope) if you insist.
- While Sneak Gyro is pretty stupid and wanders around like a severely kittened puppy (hopefully it will be fixed soon), it’s toolbelt skill is the absolute best reveal in the game and is extremely mandatory against thieves and mesmers. I strongly recommend not replacing it. The Gyro itself can still be useful for resing allies or retreating.
- Using the Scrapper traitline means giving up the Tools traitline, which means that we have to let go of Streamlined Kits and Adrenal implants, this costs us in alot of mobility and endurance. Bare in mind that Heavy Armor Exploit+Invigorating speed are not enough to compensate for it.
- Slick Shoes are the offensive choice and can be replaced if neccesary by Elixir S for extra sustain and condi removal or Toolkit for the block and magnet.
- This build truly shines at Skyhammer due to it’s perma might and many available CCs, especially when decapping the laser. Use the stability from FT and change rapidly to rifle and use #4 to use it without the self knockback effect. Elixir X is also an option for that map if aiming specifically for decapping the laser.
- Rifle’s autoattack is far superior to that of the Flamethrower’s in most cases. However, since FT’s autoattack is cone shaped AoE and covers alot more ground it can be used against a group of more than 3 enemies, Necromancer with minions, a bulk of mesmer illusions, etc.
- Don’t neglect the Elixir Gun, it is your only reliable condition removal. Use #5 and #3 to support your team and #4 to gtfo when necessary.
WvW Version :
BUILD
-This build fits for anything from small scale roaming to “guild sized” raids (about 20ish), for builds suitable for larger scales I suggest looking for mortar/nades based builds.
Notes:
- I do not recommend replacing the Rifle with a Hammer, the mobility from #5 and long range CC from #2 and #4 are too valuable to forefit. (and I don’t find Hammer #3 as reliable). It can still work for small scale roaming.
- The Mortar Kit is essential for long ranged AoE damage during group battles, if you are doing small scale roaming or soloing you may want to consider taking Stealth Gyro instead.
- It is possible to take more Berserker armor pieces over the Knight ones as long as you can actually survive it. I do not recommend taking anymore Knight pieces than suggested.
- It is possible to replace the Hoelbrak runes with Strength ones if you feel like you can handle losing the 20% condi duration reduction.
- You can replace Elixir S for Toolkit for it’s utilities, you can also take Elixir B for the extra might and swiftness or Elixir U to combine with your Mortar Kit and turn it into a machine gun and the possible reflect.
- This setup has 3 waterfields available for use, that is alot more than most classes bother to carry especially for an offensive build and it can almost rival an elementalist. Be kind enough to use them.
