I am playing with the build editor and am confused about the tools trait line.

I see traits that a lot of people use – speedy kits, kit refinement, and static discharge – everything else I don’t really see as being useful. That said, most people I gather put at least 10 points in the trait line to get 1 of the 3 traits I said above. That leads to sacrificing builds of 20/20/30. instead we get 10/20/10/30 builds; sacrificing the ability to trait into the master tier.

I say this because I don’t hear of too many people using more than one gadget per build, some using none at all. I personally don’t use most of the gadgets because of the miss factor and the very long CD of the skills.

Am I totally off on my observation?

Well other then elixir B, we don’t have much swiftness. So if you don’t want to be left behind during fights when not using elixir, you better take speedy kit.

And we mostly see those 3 trait (and the toolkit one) mostly because all the other traits are horrible or bugged.

The 2 GM traits are boring and really average.

I’m not sure to understand the part about gaget, what’s the correlation between gaget and tool traits? The faster gadget trait?

Most gagdet are lack luster, kind of a weaker version of the elixir with longer CD.

They could be good, but why take battering ram, when you can have a FT kit with 5 attack, that can do a push back and much more abilities.

Why take throw mines, when you can take bomb kit and use big ol bomb.

Why take google (other then SD build) when you can use Elixir S. Do you prefer CC breaker + immune to blind + 20% critical(? wieird) or CC breaker + immune to all direct damage for 3 sec + can use kit.

They are just outclassed by other utility.

There’s a little more than that:

traiting into Tools give you a reset at 25% of your tool belt skills.
Now consider that the med kits main heal is actually the tool belt skill…

Spending more points in the Tools line also gives lower cooldown on those tool belt skills, which can be awesome in a static discharge build.
And it gives faster dodging, something you don’t ‘notice’ but it’s there and it helps.

The trait for the tool kit is pretty nice too (that’s 20 points) because it not only gives lower cooldown on that kit, but adds cripple to it too. Especially on Throw wrench the cripple can be usefull.
The lower cooldown is nice for a 20 sec cd pull, and best of all: a 16 sec cd block for 3 seconds!

You’re right that it’s mostly about those 3 traits you listed.
But spending 15 points in it is extremely worth it if you use the med kit.

As for gadgets: the Tools trait does little for them, mostly it effects tool belt skills. Not just for gadgets, but for kits, elixirs, turrets… any tool belt skill.

Wiggely, wobbely and other wombaty wabbity creatures…

It may not seem like it at first, but 30 (or 25) in Tools is quite potent because of the 10% damage increase + the stuff mentioned by Kimbald.
It is a good base for rifle builds and many others while leaving your utility slots open that would be blocked by elixirs for most other builds.

For example, 10/20/0/10/30 rifle/EG/x/x is kinda fun in PvE…

However, all of this is based on passive boni, kits etc. and not around gadgets or the tool kit…

10% more damage, faster endurance regen, and.. when they make scope work, will be friggin’ amazing. At the moment, it’s still a better alternative damage-wise to HGH, given HGH will eat up 2-3 of your skill slots in effort to stack might. 30 crit damage and faster toolbelt recharges do make an impact.
