Anyone else falling out of love with their main and rolling Engineer?

I just hit 80 on my guardian and WvW just isnt doing it for me? I feel like melee is kitten still and WvW is just turning into the bigger zerg and on dungeons i just get rocked by anything that has aoe and range?

any suggestion or thoughts on your experience.

Depends on play style I think. My main is a warrior, which I think I got spoiled with. He does massive dmg, can kite/aoe like a rockstar. WvW and PvE I use same gear. I dont WvW too much because my computer is junk and I get bad lag. I rolled an Engineer a couple weeks ago, I really enjoy the play style, but like I said I got spoiled w/ the beastly warrior I think. I’m only 70 on my engineer, haven’t done any WvW yet either. I’m still messing w/ Builds/Kits/Gear trying to find one that I really enjoy and does heavy dmg (all of which will change at 80 im sure). The support is fun, I like dungeon support a lot ( and I bet I will really enjoy WvW support too). I would recommend you give the Engineer a shot for sure, there’s so much to utilize that you may just find something that hits home perfect for your play style.

I play all the classes, and each has a special place in my heart.

Engineer is my WvW specialist. Perma-Swiftness, Grenade Kit & Flamethrower, Power/Vit/Toughness Gear. Delicious.

In BWE 1 I spent a few hours playing every class in PvP (all I did in the betas was PvP, wanted to save the PvE for launch)

By launch I already knew I wanted to main engineer. I bought 3 character slots and quit literally played all class’s to 20, then took my engineer to 80. Then I played all classes to 50 and abandoned them all, and have focused on my engineer since. I have a great and many option such as Sky pointed out. Ranged AoE, permaswiftness, a good many debuffs and conditions, and we are the only class that can use a shield with a ranged weapon. I tend to love shield users in my MMOs ….

The only thing that made me stop and think about Guardian or Warrior was the fun, control, and theme of the hammer.

I fell out of love with my main which is the ENG, then I made up and my ENG and I are having a blast together. Sadly I just had to learn to play and discovered how versatile the ENG is

been level 80 for just shy of 3 weeks and love my ENG flaws and all.

ENG is tied with my ELE for the #1 spot. I play a 4 kit style on my ENG so I’m constantly switching my kits for what I want when I need it (very similar play style to ELE). Heavy support, good damage, decent burst, great survivability. What more can you ask for?

Thanks sounds like My Engineer is the way to go! Seems like guardian is spec to much for support and Engineer can do it better and better damage. I love being able to run into the battle and swing away but if you run into smart players they just run away or try to kite. I just hit 80 on my guardian too and was just hoping for a better answer but its not there yet.

My advice for starting out as Engy in WvW…

1) 10 points in Tools (I think) is speedy kits. It’s good. It’s really good.
2) Grenade Kit is spammable GT-AoE that is unbelievable for clearing the walls of defenders, or taking out siege weapons sneaky-like.
3) Flamethrower goes THROUGH the gate. Wait until they drop a ram or two, and unload the flames of hell through the gate. Oh, it’s so delicious. Stack Power and fry your enemies. I have saved many a tower this way from 10-20 man offensives.
4) I take Elixir S as my last utility, because stun break + 4 seconds of invulnerability is amazing.
