Guild Wars 2

I have avoided using grenades thus far. It drives me crazy trying to throw and move around to dodge at the same time. I can’t seem to find a good key-combination that lets me do that.

Unfortunately, I also like doing AoE damage from a range… SO, could someone please tell me how to do this without cramping my fingers and destroying my 1-5 keys from repeatedly mashing them?

Lots of people use a mouse button.

I mapped my auto attack skill to my mouse button 5(side button)
My mouse also supports a macro that will spam the button when i hold it down.
So i just hold down my mouse button and toss.
Also you dont have to mouse click to throw the nades you can just press the hotkeys twice. So just hit 2-2, 3-3, 4-4 etc.

i use razer nostromo so i dont really have a rpoblem moving and using any abilties. i also use the razer naga so life isnt that tough. the the poster above me…do you use razer naga? seems like something that muse would be capable of

I just started playing Engineer, and after a bit of tinkering came up with a build that suits me. Unfortunately. . . I ran into this problem with Grenade Kit’s auto-attack.
As someone who does not own a mouse with more than 2 buttons, I don’t really have a way to prevent my grenades from flying in 10,000 different directions while I’m on the move (and I mostly PvP so I’m on the move often).

Would it be blasphemy to ask that Grenade Kit’s auto-attack fly to my target, and that it not require me to spam?
I’m just curious to see if others have the same opinion as me.

I guess you could use alt or some other key you can still hit while using wasd movement. Though honestly, a boring 3-button (left, right, & mousewheel click) mouse is about the cost of a fast food ‘meal’ these days.

it takes some getting used to, I know some people use mouse buttons, but if you’ll notice you don’t actually have to click the location you can just hit it’s activation key a second time and it’ll throw the grenades wherever you happen to have your mouse. Also, it’s not about constant motion it’s about finding a safe spot to hurl grenades then moving to a new safe spot when that one is no longer safe. in the event of kiting, just run backwards.

One thing I liked was that you can hit a grenade key (1-5) and point your ground effect target where you like, then hold right-mouse down +/- left-mouse to move around, and the grenade target stays in the same relative position to you. The you can move around spamming grenades by double tapping the 1-5 keys. Takes far longer to describe than to do. Good for retreating lobbing grenades behind you, or put the target to your left or right and circle mobs lobbing grenades. Takes a bit of practice but seems like fun to me…

Well what you need to do is get your mouse around about where you want to hit something, then you spam 1 while holding right mouse button down and moving with w, a, s, d. What happens is that the mouse will stay in the same relative position to your character so that by moving your character you position your grenades. Of course if you need finer tuning you can take right mouse button off and move just with w, a, s, d. This is a bit tricky. Make sure a and d keys are rebound for strafe left and right. I think that’s how I do it anyway, going from memory.

Get a Razer Nostromo.
Get comfortable using the D-Pad.
Now you can move with your thumb and spam skills with your fingers.
Its obvious that Anet wanted everyone who plays engineer to get a Nostromo.
That is why i was so glad i already had one!:)

I use the Razor Naga Epic, and I friggin love that thing. Largest side attachment fits my hand like a glove.

Anyway, the number keys on the mouse + auto-spam-1 via the macro software makes using the grenade kit very fluid.

OP, I highly recommend you get a gaming mouse. ... That said, if you can’t afford one, there’s plenty of free macro software on the web; download one and make a macro to spam you’re 1 key for you (don’t macro an entire rotation, or you’ll be getting into ’account ban’ territory).

Also, options > fast-cast ground targeting... Turn it on.
