I realized that I seldom use thes. the toolbelt skills are often to uninteresting for most situations and the weapon kits are a utiliy skill I have less.

Some times I wander if they sould have made the weapon kits our class mechanic like: F1 Flame thrower, F2 Elixir gun, etc.

What are your experience with that, are there tool belt skills which are really great and do you often use weapon kits.

By the way don’t get me wrong I like the engineer I just think the toolbelt isn’t really something interesting.

I tend to partially agree.

While I think that the toolbelt is an interesting class mechanic, I fear that it’s hamstringing the engineer due to balance concerns. With a potential 6 utilities and 2 heals there’s not much room for error between OP and balanced from a developer’s point of view, and yet to us the skills feel UP because we only actually make 3 choices. For example, if I were to choose Rocket Boots because of Rocket Kick, I’m stuck with a fairly bad escape skill that I wouldn’t want to take over something like Elixir S. Additionally, most skills feel like they are deliberately balanced around making either the belt skill good and the slot skill bad or vice versa, which is quite simply a lazy design choice that saps the fun out of skill selection and character building.

it depends how you use the tool belts. With static discharge from tools in power builds they become a vital component of any dps rotation.

Abilities like throw wrench, grenade barrage, and bi ’ol bomb do massive damage as well.

Except for 2-3 tool belts most of them are actually really awesome abilities. These exceptions are mostly elixirs and some of the turret ones like thumper.

A good example is the tool belt from rifle turret on it’s own is not that great. But in a power tools build it’s fantastic since it’s a static discharge every 8s which is solid dps.

Elixir H is another example. With the Hgh, and condition removal traits. It gives not only a random buff but a condition remover and a might boon.

The turret detonates with the 20 point explosive trait turns them into on demand AoE KB’s as well.

There are kitten toolbelt skills, and skills with good toolbelt skills but kitten utility skills but I don’t think it’s a bad mechanic at all. It just needs some tweaks and optimizing.

It is funny to hear this, I often find myself using potions, so perhaps I should try out some gadgets. ^^

The weapon kits on the other hand… Most of the time I feel like there is a better utility skill than a glorified weapon swap.
