So many of the Engi’s tooltips are either worded terribly, or, more often, are completely wrong.
Especially with things such as turrets, elixirs and even the simplest grenade explanation is incorrect for all 5 of the grenade skills.
The grenade skills all say “Throw A grenade” “A” grenade. Meaning singular. One.
All grenade skills throw two grenades when used, meaning that the tooltips only show half of what the actual skill would do.
I’ve noticed errors here and there in other professions, but it just makes an unpopular class even less popular since players can’t play when they have to spend half of their time figuring out what the skills actually do.
Quite fitting for an engineer, having to experiment to find results, but it’s stupid.
Please can we have this fixed? It would hardly take 20 minutes for someone to just go in and retype it to match what the skills do. I’d do it myself if I could, but since that’s not gonna happen, can someone just sort it?

Actually, that’s the reason such things haven’t been done. It’s actually much more involved to get the tooltips changes, partly because they have to localize the tooltips to other languages, receive feedback form them, make any necessary modifications, see if they’re good at that point, &c. That why they did a bunch of tooltip tweaks at once in one of the previous patches.

It’s also why some tooltips, like the one for elixir U, are very vague and abstract. It allows them to alter the functionality of the ability without actually changing the tooltip.

However, I do agree that it would be nice to get a lot of the tooltips cleaned up. It’s unfortunate that such a seemingly simple piece of the game has a ton of complexity surrounding any potential modifications to it. It kind of gives the impression of poor design, although I believe there’s factors beyond their direct control that come into play with these things, namely the localization stuff.

In any case, you luckily have the forums and wiki as resources to help you figure anything out. At the end of the day, you won’t really bother reading the tooltips once you know what the abilities do anyways.
