After experimenting with a number of different kits and builds I can see why the HGH condition build is the most popular choice for TPvP, but my question is, is it the ONLY feasible choice for competitive team-based PvP?

If you fellow Engineers actively participate in TPvP in anything except an HGH Condition build, or even if you are currently playing an HGH Condition build only because you feel every other build you’ve tried falls short, I would like your feedback.

i think its because the engineer condition builds hit like a ton of bricks and tank out hard at the same time and to top it off they are the engineers easy mode build, there’s no real hard combos to it, and they go solidly on just about any team (a good one anyway).

personally i’m getting bored with running a condition engineer so i started running a slightly tank point pushing engineer with enough knock backs to not only push an enemy well off a point but kill them in mid air which makes me lol all the time, in saying that i’m not going to solo hold a point any time soon with that build.

any way back to HGH, it seems there’s only 2 ways to be powerful with it and that’s taking a kit otherwise your not dealing out very much damage with pistols alone so its either bomb kit or grenade kit and there both easy to avoid if you know how to and from experience running HGH bomber/nader only the more experienced players seem to know how to effectively combat it.

I’m currently using my most recent build, the BoBomber in tournies as a high damage roamer and it works great because of my ability to stealth, avoid damage (seriously, this stuff is underestimated) and even get behind enemy lines to spike someone.

It’s officially rank 2 on my favourite build list.

I’m trying to come up with a top-tier meta viable spec that doesn’t need grenades or HGH. I haven’t succeeded since the patch, but I believe it is possible and will keep trying.

I’ve been trying various bunker builds that don’t use HGH over the weeks and still i haven’t found anything that can be on par with ele/guardian bunkers. I wonder if it is even possible.

after a lot of testing nothing really beats hgh as far as engineer tpvp goes it tanks better and does more damage then any other build for an engineer not saying there isn’t other builds that can work but they can’t fill as many different situations as hgh, I think the biggest reason for this is the traits it seems impossible to make a build that hits hard and tanks hard without hgh, hopefully the apparent trait line changes that are coming opens up more room for improvement but I highly doubt seeing a big enough change next patch that will open it up enough but it hopefully will give us some insights into where we can take the engineer as far as tpvp is concerned.

Engineer can be a viable bunker in tournament play.

Guardian bunkers are masters of stability and barrier type moves and are overall the best and should be.

Ele bunkers are hard to kill, but Engie bunkers are hard to hit. To me that’s the main reason why I feel they are potentially on par with Ele, permanent vigor + swiftness for counter capping and bunkering opposing nodes quickly when your own gets overrum + several options on how to play it versus Eles with only one real way tends to make them competitive for that #2 best bunker spot IMO.

The only reason why Guardians are and will be king bunkers forever is because of stability… you can’t really lock down a Guardian for large portions of time in the fight, any other class for the most part can be. It’s why HGH became so popular, in that it’s the main build that can actually out-damage the Guardian’s bunkering, so you don’t need CC, you just need mass conditions and particle explosions from a distance.
