Trying to get back into PvP on Engi..
I have actually been fooling around with a trait setup in WvsW yesterday and today that’s a mix of condition damage from pistol’s and CC It look’s like this:

I use Pre/Con/Tough Armor with Coral jewel’s, Superior sigil of Smoldering and Superior sigil of “I still can’t remeber it’s name but there’s a 60% chance on crit to remove a condition and it’s my new found love”
It’s actually quite fun, and I made it to get myself away from my elixir (cause they are sooo good)
You will hold you ground great in any 1vs1, and most 1vs2 you still got a fighting chance, but as soon as it turns into 1vs3 it’s simply to messy for CC and I turn tail and head off The burning damage we are able to pull off as an engineer is my lasted interest and it’s actually quite amazing what we are able to do! You can swap Elixir S in instead of rocket boots! for more survival (love that neat little thing)
WvW Roaming movies!
I never play WvW on Engineer. I just feel like I’d make myself more valuable by using my Guardian. It’s just as versatile if I know what I’m going into. Hell, yesterday I was running Obsidian Sanctuary and had 3 guys knockdown camping a certain spot. So what did I do? Swiftness, Aegis, and Stability to their doorstep. What did I do then? I whopped their butts. I could have never done something like that on my Engineer. The only thing I feel like I can do on Engineer that helps more than me is spam Vulnerability on Grenade Kit on door defense.
In sPvP I play a careful SD Rifle build. 0/30/0/10/30. I try to pair with someone who can distract like a Mesmer or Guardian while I lay down the hurt from a safer place.
A few test I like to do when making an sPvP build:
1. Warrior and Thief quickness proofing: Usually in the form of Gear Shield (Thief) and Overcharged Shot (Warrior)
2. Be able to 1v1 both the Chieftan and Svanir in a fair amount of time
3. Have some superior speed advantage for running between points (not much issue thanks to Speedy Kits)
With my build I can survive pressure even without toughness because of Gear Shield, Empowering Vigor and good control.

Well, you are discouraged as engineer in pvp for good reason. Because there isn’t any good pvping when it comes to this class.
There are only 3 viable builds for engis in this mode:
1) Rifle glass canon / riffle control
2) Double pistol condition heavy / condition alchemist
3. Support / Support tank
And to point out, besides the holding support, those builds are weak when compared to other proffesions.
If any of those ain’t your style, just reroll. You will only see engineers playing heavy condition (90%) / Riffle cannons (10%) in hotjoin, and condition (40%) / support tank holder (60%) in tournaments. Besides medkit and bomb kit( but only with holder type build), other kits are useless: granade(nerfed to the point no1 uses it), elixir gun(sometimes usefull, but only situational),flamethrower (very, and i mean VERY low dmg, not worth changing from pistols, and the magma blast is bugged, misses 70% of the time), tool kit (shield is good for holder builds, other then that, never seen a melee engineer, lol), so only elixirs seem to work right for you, cause they remove boons(which is crucial), and provide u with some sustain.
Atm engi is the most underplyaed profesion(because the obvious weaknesess), so if you’d like to play some decent pvp, do the same thing other players(including me) did, reroll thief, warrior, or mesmer(and no, it’s not just rage talking, got to rank 25 with engi before i got sick of it and rerolled).
it is sad, yes, but that doesnt make it less true. Wouldnt be surprised if they removed engi soon, due to lack of players playing this proff.
