Turret - Will they stay that miserable?
Honestly the only way I could see turrets being viable again:
1. Take no condition damage. Especially with burns now turrets die before you can even see them on your screen.
2. Add the auto-repair trait they removed as baseline and make it 10% every 3 seconds. This was the trait that made turrets worth it especially in WvW, now only way to repair is tool kit.
3. Lower the CD’d of Rocket/Thumper to 30 seconds. The CD’d were pretty ridiculous are that long. Maybe even normalize all Turrets to a 25 second CD.
4. Make Rifle-Barreled Turrets baseline. This was also a huge trait, 50% more range and 15% more damage on all turrets was awesome. It kept enemies from getting too far in WvW and having them be more far apart the turrets wouldnt die as fast from 1 AoE.
Other than that I don’t see how else they would be good, these changes were made in reason with what Anet would actuallly do and not what I’d hope for.
What I think would be a good change
1. Up the damage on turrets by quite a lot
2. Make them last 15-20 seconds each, increase the time between some of their attacks, Net turret mostly.
3. Normalize CDs to 30 seconds.
That would make them more in line with Gyro’s. They’d be almost like the offensive AI where Gyro’s are more defensive for the most part.
Healing Turret is a pretty amazing heal and none of the heals can compare to it for engi, but I wouldn’t say its OP, normalizing the CD to 30s is quite a nerf, maybe keep it as is.
Also for HT maybe make the heal be better over time making you want to keep it up, kind of like Medic Gyro.
Just my 2 cents.
Edit: Also another thing to add, make the turret’s overcharge abilities cast when you hit the button and not on the next interval. Could go for either of my suggestions.
The one time turrets were remotely good, people couldn’t handle it so now we have turrets that can bleed and be poisoned.

Yeah that Nerf was unwarranted. They’re fragile enough as it was. Maybe at least have advanced turrets make them immune to conditions in addition to the damage resistance. Maybe move the shielding part of it to experimental turrets, and have it trigger when the turrets are overcharged.
Yes they will probably stay this way for a long time.
Gyros selling point after all is that they are at least not turrets.

Seriously though they could do with a big overhaul, make them remote stationary kit emplacements or whatever and let them be our heavy artillery.
The nerf they did to turrets was uncalled for and a bit extreme.
If they want to keep it that miserable they could at least REDUCE THE LONG CDs.

Of course they will be miserable and dont worry… gyros are gonna join em in a few months too. Why? Cause its engineer stuff and we talk about a-net here, they gonna make em work and then nerf em. As long as the nade kit works everything is alright.
Update: Pve turrets only gonna take 5% from aoe attacks or stuff that doesnt directly target them (basically if no enemie directly targets the turret with an attack it only takes 5% of the attack). Save to say gyros will have the same deal going on…so small yay about that i suppose. Pvp related stuff is “in a good place” so yea.. aint gonna make em better there

Yeh.. pvp and wvw will still have miserable turrets. But atleast now gyros and turrets will (hopefully) serve a purpose in pve. A boss doing a massive attack with 12k aoe isnt uncommon so its a really nice thing to actually use A.I. here and there in a build without having to worry about having it nuked the second you deploy it.
Who knows.. maybe they add some “nerfed” version of that buff for wvw and pvp…like 50% damage reduction if not directly targeted or something. Would surely help a lot already.
