Turrets got buffed, lots of people trying them out a bit.

Sadly turret traits are all over the place.
20 explosives, 30 inventions, 20 tools for the tool kit repair… all over it.

What traits do you think are worth it, and what traits do you think are not worth it?

I like the knockback on exploding, but taking that means I let go of the 30% less damage and self-healing.
I do notice my turrets die to a few hits from underleveled mobs. Very, VERY sad sight.

15% more damage and longer range? Not sure about that one. It’s 30 points in a line not boosting your damage otherwise.

20/0/30/0/20 is a theoretical possible build… but seriously?

What do you think.
IF you try to use turrets of course.

Deployable turrets is great since you can place on walls where enemy can’t hit, but be careful cause sometimes they glitch in the middle of object and all shots are “obstructed”, also remember this trait is glitched with Flame turret! but yea! turrets on trees the way to go for their survival!

I don’t know I want to like and use turrets, but their lack of mobility just really hurt them for me as I roam with a guardian. Also would you use power for damage? Or would you use conditions? As rocket does aoe burning?

very true about putting them up walls.
But if the enemy has any kind of easy ranged… you can’t repair them with tool kit, now can you. Maybe you need the other self healing traits for that.
And the knockback is sort of wasted too.

That’s what I mean with ‘turret traits are all over the place’.

But sure: I also think putting them in odd places is the way to go for their survival.

But than… what about your turrets with an aoe ability?
Flame, thumper, healing… they need to be where you are.

Rocket: bit of both

Depends if you mean pve or pvp in general, but I usually play with metal plating, self repair and rifled turret barrels. For pvp/wvw I have been thinking about removing self repair since I dont see much of a difference between having it and not having it. Regeneration is ten percent every ten seconds, not a noticeable difference in fights that take between 10-20 seconds to finish.

Turrets dont scale with power, only condition damage.

Really I figured both rifle and rocket would be affected by power. Interesting to know.

Currently, the only ways to increase direct (non-Condition) Turret damage is to have the Rifled Barrels trait and/or have points in Explosives – for some reason, their damage and condition durations are modified by the Explosives trait.

That is, unless they snuck a ‘all turret attacks are treated as if made by the player’ in somewhere.

As for suggested Turret traits: I’d suggest the Accelerant-Packed Turrets trait, above anything else; it provides an auxiliary source of damage (though I’m not sure how much) and knockback. With the Rifle and Healing Turrets, the cooldown is even almost the same as the Throw Mine skill (untraited). Aside from that, the Inventions traitline in general – Metal-Plated Turrets might not do enough, but it’s something, and Rifled Turret Barrels is pretty great for a Turret-focused Engineer. Autotool Installation’s pretty much pointless in its current incarnation, though – too long a wait for too little recovered on an item with too little survivability to begin with.
