Turrets: why are them fooled by mesmers?
Our turrets are fooled by everyone , they shoot at what exists and what don’t. Remember that.
Yeah, mesmers are the sole reason i never run turrets even for fun and variation. They are a hard counter just by being alive.
Turrets have the worst AI in the game. Not only are they not attacking what you are attacking, or what is directly attacking you. They will actively attack things you are not in combat with, ninjapulling even more enemies to you. Or attempt to attack enemies that are out of LOS.
all this before they will even consider, just maybe, to attack the same target as you. As soon as a situation arrises where a Turret can actively pick from more then 1 target, they become a random crapshoot.
The turrets just target whatever is closest to them, unless it’s a dragon. It doesn’t matter if that thing is a clone; it doesn’t matter if that thing is invulnerable; it doesn’t matter if that thing is blocked by another object between it and the turret; it doesn’t matter if that thing is an inanimate object, like a table, while you are getting your face bashed in by a herd of centaurs. As long as whatever it is closest to is not a Dragon, it will shoot and attempt to kill it.
Guess people are missing the point: i know that they simply hit whatever is near them, as things stands now. And their terrible AI is well known too.
What i’m saying is that since they are turrets, thus mechanical beings, there is a case where this doesn’t make sense logically; that is, illusions.
If devs wanted, there would be logical reasons to basically make turrets a sort of counter to mesmers’ illusions. Giving them reasons to go after turrets before killing the one who set them up – a thing they do directly, as now.
I was doing the task in Brisbane on my lowbie mesmer near where the Unholy Triad(?) spawns, using my illusions to set off mines for task, when a friend stopped me to ask something:
How on earth is your illusionary magic confounding a hunk of metal and explosives?
Don’t expect too much realism in a fantasy MMO.
For the toast!
There are skritt inside the turrets, thats why they are stupid

….This thread made my morning.

Meh, in this case I don’t mind the charity of giving this one to the mesmers. Their clones are practically worthless. I’ve never once lost 1v1 to a mesmer, or even remotely come close. They just are badly designed for such all around. Their clones practically run giant neon signs that say “IM NOT THE ORIGINAL”, so there’s no chance of you being tricked.
It’s sort of like a little kid being allowed a headstart in a track race against an Olympic athlete. Let em have it… just let em have it.
Just make turrets focus their owner’s target already. Or make Phantasms focus anything but the Mesmer’s target, should be fun for a while.

Before we go THAT in depth about them countering Mesmers dude THEY MUST function properly…you should make this topic when they are out of alpha stage.
