Everyone says turrets are weak, but I saw a build online where the poster said he was having great success in tournaments with it…so I gave it a try.

I was very pleasantly surprised. I did MUCH better than I had been doing as a pistol/condition engineer.

I think that must be because nobody plays turrets, and so opponents do not give them the respect they deserve when they are "hardened, boosted, and self-repairing. They go after me. I blow them back with my rifle and kite them, and often before they know it, they are out of health.

It’s basically a firearms/turrets build with a berserker jewel and runes of the Ogre. Low health (18x), but I am hitting for 1200 to 1500 rifle crits, and the rocket turret does about 2000 ever 4 seconds or so when you count the condition stacks (on the training dummy). The rifle turret does about 360 every 3 secs as long as I have the Elixir B up. I just use rocket turret, rifle turret and Elixir B.

When I drop the supply crate alongside these two turrets, and I have my Elixir B on…I am pretty formidable for a while.

I think I will stick with it a while.

Hello.

I respect your opinion and your experience , but we ofc have different expercience in sPvP/WvW with turrets setup.

My turrets in sPvP,venver do 2000 dmg on my opponent: 700 dmg + 300×2 (rocket turret) every 4 seconds.

Also,turrets,from their statistic,are supposed to scale with condition dmg if you wear cond dmg gears and may be,they should also scale with direct dmg(power gear,but this last one is only my supposition,due to the condition scaling).

Also,turrets,force you to stay in a place,you can’t move,because if the enemy is smart,will just go out of the turret range,and you are done,while your turrets is targetting some mob or your opponent pet(this for WvW).

About the sPvP,apart my bunker build,is pretty easy to be overkilled (i speack about tournaments,random,bacause paid turnaments is even worse if your team is not trained).And,ofc turrets setup + berserker gears,is even worse.
I only log to make WvW and sPvP(well till 2 weeks ago now i’m taking a break till next balance update),but i’m not a pro,so take my considerations as they come:turrets are pretty unplayable for a DYNAMIC game atm.If you need to move and ingage a combat 20 seconds after your turrets are gone,you are a death engineer walking.

Turrets aren’t terrible in SPvP but there are better options, which two turrets do you take out of curiosity?

edit: reason I say there are better options is you basically need a stun breaker for SPvP and not taking a kit is seriously kittening yourself in my experience.

the damage of kitten turrets don’t scale with power or condition. so they always do basic-damage. turrets dont adapt to your build. They waste a skill slot in PVP imo

I use the rocket turret and the rifle turret.

Argo, that may be true, but my rifle autoattack blinds, adds vulerability, and is blasting very fast at 1200 to 1500. It’s like seeing a 1400 “condition stack” floating over them every like a “bleed”

I am staying alive longer, defeating more opponents, and yeah, getting higher on the “scoreboards” than I was was a pistol/shield condition engineer.

I’ve ran similar builds. I usually go tools rather than inventions since I found that deploy-able turrets in Spvp is much better survivability for turrets than both metal plating and auto-tool installation.

They work well against players that do not know what they are doing or people who ignore them, but once you fight someone with a bit of AoE or bouncing attacks they are semi useless.

A good example is a smart thief / ranger / ele will just range down your turrets before they come at you. Even with the tanky traits most turrets still get taken out in 1 if not 2 hits.

They do come in handy against builds that have no ranged damage like a GS warrior or guardian, but most of the time I feel they become a wasted utility.

You toss them down and they often die before they get a shot off. Then you have a 40-60s cool down for all but rifle.

You said vul on crit. odd choice.
Go for the eyes, rifle mod, and hair trigger should be your rifle traits.

Ps, net turret is actually decent.

You may be right. But the turrets do add damage, like totems in that other game.

I’d rather use net turret and a stun breaker than rocket and rifle turrets. I mean using both damage turrets with elixir B just doesn’t make sense to me, you can’t move so you probably sit on a point but you have no defensive utilities or traits to stay there for long.

Even with rocket and rifle turrets out and firing with me hip-shotting. I notice I still do more damage with the 1 skill from bomb kit in the build your currently using.

You can also swap in traits to get protection, more power, and a heal on each bomb.

I am not trying to be negative or go against your build, because I have tried to use turrets a lot myself, and I’ve just found them to be to easily countered.

I had tried a bomber, but that’s pure melee. Have to get into the swirl of the zerg. And I found grenades too slow to catch people unless they were standing still or in a tight group.

just figured out today that if ur running heal turret and thumper turret, ur able to support and selfheal for huge amounts. first cast regenerating mist and combine that with shockwave ( both toolbelt skills ) for regen and aoe heal, then or if needed deploy heal turret and detonate it for selfheal from deplroying and another aoe heal + regen. we we´re running wvwvw today, 2 engis and both heal and thumper turret. was amazing fun while capturing points in 2vs4 situations
