Can not seem to put anything in the slot.

I went with the backpack just for the slot seeming how obtaining a helm would happen a lot more often then obtaining a backpack.

Is it just broken or is there only certain upgrades usable for the slot?

Did you try using the low level gems? Until you transmute it with either the level 78 back piece from the personal story (which comes with a gem) or a guild back piece, you can’t put higher level items in the backpack.

Yeah, I tried putting in the +3 stat gems & they refuse to work.

same thing with me no gems or runes go into the upgrade slot, im at level 40 now.

Same here, lvl 20 and cannot use any gems or upgrades at all in the back back. This needs to be fixed, I picked this so I could have another upgrade slot early.

This happens with all the lower level(Not 80) back items. I asked in the guild chat about it, and they can upgrade level 80 pieces. But I cannot place a gem (or whatever upgrade they use) in any of my back items.

it doesn’t matter what level you are, it depends on what level the item is when trying to put a gem or rune into something. so even if you are 40 and using a lvl 35 rune/gem it won’t go in.

i may be wrong and it might be broken, but keep that in mind when trying.

I have the back item that gets rewarded from the personal story, the first one, and I can’t place any kind of upgrade to it, not even the lowest possible gems I have in the bank. I don’t have any level 80’s atm, so I cannot verify if only the level 80 back items can be upgraded, but my guildies linked various of their own with a gem. So my guess is that all the lower level back items can’t be upgraded. I haven’t tried the guild backpacks yet.. so.. I don’t know..

You can put there only upgrades lvl 1 or without level specification. If you want keep that look just transmute it with guild backpack what you can buy in WvW and after that upgrade with lvl 80 gems.
