Upcoming nerf to AoE ruin flamethrowers?
Well I hope not it’s what I roll with in SPvP and WvW.
I doubt it but it depends on whether it’s a percentage based thing across all classes or if they are just hitting a few specific abilities. Basically the problem is in zerg fights you either get immobilized or stunned and unless you have multiple stun breaks you get melted by AOE. The flame thower can only hit 3 people right now anyway so I don’t see it as a problem but then again I don’t think just because we get kits that don’t scale well and turrets that almost no one uses in WvW means we shouldn’t get a damage bump to put us more in line with the the more popular classes.

Quick answer: No.
Each AoE is being looked at individually. It’s not a blanket nerf, so they
re not going to hit the weaker AoE’s wih the nerf bat. Engineer should be left out of the nerfings.
The only potential nerfings I could see happening are Grenade Barrage, and Jump Shot. Barrage can be triggered more often than just the once per 60 seconds due to Kit Refinement, and provides a lot of potentially unintended damage when you’re inside the target. Jump Shot is one the Engineer’s strongest AoE option in burst terms, and might get a small smack on the wrist for the landing AoE.
They say they’re looking at each skill individually, but somehow, I just can’t quite trust that they’re actually doing that. Maybe they really are – but at this point, I’m pretty much expecting to see a blanket nerf, or us to get hit with it despite our low damage, because we’re just so kittening versatile that we need a unique damage penalty.
As if there’s something worth ruining.
