Viable High LvL Fractal build
Try a power build. Condition builds have too many problems in dungeons. Specifically your conditions can be overridden by those who don’t have condition damage. Condition Duration gives you more damage then Condition Damage does. Just name a few issues.
To be honest, you have a great team composition as it is, so making a build for the Engi is a bit difficult with our current mechanics. It’d be awesome if you could give us more information on what your mates are running, so we can make a build that compliments their abilities rather than trying to force a build on to them. It’s always worth the effort to make your build effective to your team as possible even if it isn’t the most efficient, numerically. Regardless, I can still give you suggestions that may lead you in the right direction.
There is never enough healing/support/dps in a party, so don’t think that you are not contributing solely because the other classes can do it better, you are still capable. Conditions; yes, all the other classes can inflict them and maybe better in certain aspects, but none of them can lay them simultaneously and quickly as an Engi can. With a set-up like Grenade-kit with high-precision you can easily achieve max stacks of vulnerability and bleeds on your own and with perhaps food you can maintain long durations of poison, as well as providing a long-lasting chill that provides excellent control. Having that set-up in mind, I recommend Rampager’s gear with traits such as sharpnel, precise sights, and sitting duck if using a rifle (Do I even have to mention Grenadier?^^); also Goggles for a utility slot.
Healing: a nice build I see going in WvW, which also works excellently in PvE is one that utilizes Elixir-infused bombs + Elixir Gun. In high level fractals, it lets you be tanky, supportive and offensive, which will definitely help your party, albeit spread out thinly all at the same time! For this set-up I recommend using a Cleric’s set with your choice of runes (Use corresponding stat respectively, in areas you lack effectiveness). For the traits, you want to max out Inventions to get Elixir-infused bombs and want to invest at least 10 points into tools to get a second Super-Elixir from Elixir Gun when equipped using the Kit Refinement trait. I will warn you, the numbers aren’t going to be as transparent as the Grenade build, but the amount of contribution you are giving will be effective as you will be able to do it simultaneously as opposed to an Ele that must swap attunements in order to focus on a single role. Healing on an Engi isn’t great, so I’d recommend using a Sigil of Life to beef up your heals, if you plan on emphasizing on it.
That’s all I have time to post at the moment, let me know what you think and I’ll gladly elaborate on the ones I’ve mentioned or give you new ones. Hope I helped.

Im running supportish condinade 30/30/0/10 at 60+ currently and its pretty solid, using elixir U for some fast vulnerability stacking or ressing and toolbelt skill is nice bonus projectile wall and altruism runes are great with med kit. Also running up to 40 dailies with might FT at times just for fun.

Well the team has some kind of standard config:
- Guardian in full Power/Vitality/Toughness, using Great sword and staff with “shouts” build.
- Warrior with same equipment as the guardian, using Mace+Shield and Rifle with 2 banners, For The Great Justice and Elite Banner.
- Elementalist full berserker with staff and vigor accumulation for evades.
- Balanced stats ranger, the guy brings all the weapons he can use to the dungeon and swaps depending on the encounter, same with pets.
With the builds you are commenting, I tried going grenades but I hated the lack of mobility (for me), evading, moving and ground targeting all at the same time is a pain for my hand.
I have been thinking a lot of time on the Bomb-Infuser build but when doing “theory craft” with the numbers it’s like the heal is useful when a boss hit you for 3/4 of your life going full defense and you have to be in “the front line”. It’s a shame that a lot of traits don’t work with the Elixir Gun “Elixir” skills it will give a lot more of potential to the EG.
Anyway I have been thinking about the traits for the “supportive” way with bombs an EG. Maybe something like:
10 Explosives – Forceful Explosives
20 Firearms – Rifled Barrels, Fireforged Trigger
30 Inventions – Energized Armor or Cloaking Device, Power Shoes for mobility, Elixir-Infused Bombs
00 Alchemy
10 Tools – Kit Refinement
With Cleric’s gear on armor, jewels and weapons. Using P/S with sigil of water and the one that gives you healing power and using Elixir R, Bomb Kit and EG with Supply Crate. For the healing skill I have the idea of using Medic Bakcpack and use Rune of Altruism for swapping the Medic kit every 10 seconds to give a fresh fury and 3 stacks of Might.
Just some ideas in the healing stuff, the grenadier just don’t have a lot of “think” involved, it’s easy to build.
Sorry for double posting, limit of 5001 characters.

Wow lvl 60+ on fractals, agony have to be a pain in the kitten
What traits are you using from Firearms and Tools? What gear are you using?
Thanks to all for the comments.
If you are going to actually do a condition damage dps style for dungeons, you are going to want to make sure no one else applies Burning or much Bleeding at all, that you have at least two Burning sources, and that you are using Shrapnel traited Shrapnel Grenades. All on top of +100% condition duration. Basically you want the Burning and multi-stacks of Bleed.
Direct Damage and Support tend to be better off though. You are going to need at least the Grenade Kit if you stick to conditions.
Tirydia – Scrapper
I have always gone for condition duration over con damage mainly because I value conditions such as confusion, cripple, freeze, blind, weakness, and vuln more so than burning or bleeding. Poison is an all around great condition as well. I run grenadier almost exclusively to apply some of those conditions then switch back to rifle for direct damage. I switch to elixir gun often so that after applying the grenade conditions i can then keep up weakness if i don’t mind taking a hit on direct damage. I am a constant switcher of utilities almost for every given battle. It seems the only way to be truly effective as the engineer. This is also why I avoid things like the elixir bombs simply because 1. it puts you too far into the toughness tree which I really don’t like and there really are not many great substitutes for that trait if you are somewhere that bombs are not effective. 30 into a tree is a lot…so for that investment I want to be able to switch into multiple useful traits. I run a 30/10/0/10/20 build based on cond duration, direct rifle damange, and bursts from grenade barrage/jumpshot/blunderbuss etc that I really love. Kit refinement really does redifine the use of kits and encourages swapping.
This build has worked well for me in fractals as I have a high degree of survivability, decent damage, and consistent direct cc and condition based cc. If I didn’t swap my weapons, utilities, and traits frequently it wouldn’t matter though.

Could you post ypur build plz

I’m keeping a close eye on this thread. I’m not much of a PvE-player, so I have something of a blindspot when it comes to dungeons, especially fractals.
Does anyone have direct-damage build suggestions specifically for Fractals?

Im usually running something like this with altruism runes, prec/tough/condi+couple rampager parts gear, last utility skill varies depending on situation.

I can’t find the prec/though/condi gear in the list http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Rampager#Triple_attribute
It’s from Karma vendors or something ?
EDITED: Founded sorry.
Thanks.
