Hey all! I’m looking for a ranged/middle of the pack AOE zerg Engineer build. I currently run a tanky hammer build on the frontline in zerg groups and absolutely love it, however I feel like my bag/body count would be a lot higher if I could have some ranged AOE abilities(I’m thinking grenades or bombs) to bombard(pun intended) the enemy zerg who is typically stacking up or stumbling over each other as we rush them. And don’t say “go necro” I’m looking for real feedback and ideas for a grenade or bomb build or just a ranged build in general. I’m currently roaming on my engineer with a P/P HGH build but I’d like to transition to zerg fighting with him. I have no idea where to start with traits nor do I have any sort of idea as to what my “stat thresholds” should be! However I can tell you what I’m looking for in this build and hopefully experienced Engineers can help me brainstorm with it!
My goals:
-Some tankiness: I don’t necessarily want to be full berserker though I’m sure I’d love the numbers I don’t want to be a free rally for the other team if my zerg gets bull rushed. Though I don’t plan on being front lining, I’d still like some tankiness to be able to withstand a hit or two.
-AOE damage and abilities: I want to be able to hit their stacked groups and whether it’s a condition grenade or bomb build or power(I’m not sure which is more viable, I’m a noob) I want to be able to get credit for nearly all the kills and reap the benefits of massive bags and wvw xp!!
-Mobility: I love having mobility to enter/exit a fight at will, for the small amount of time I’ve played my engi I’ve fallen in love with rocket boots, either rocket boots or some swiftness or both whichever fits but mobility is a must in wvw!
-Damage output: I know, I know, I can’t have everything I want, I want to be keyword “somewhat tanky” but not so much as to hinder my damage output. My main objective for this build is to be able to pump out some damage so whatever thresholds I need for good damage output, sign me up! Everything left after meeting those thresholds will go towards toughness/vital!
-The reasoning: I couldn’t find what seemed like a “viable” grenade build and honestly I haven’t done crazy amounts of research but everything I found while looking was from may or later for grenades. Are they still viable? Are there other high AOE dps builds out there I’m missing? Kind of wanting more range than the FT offers or I’d go with FT/EG. Any and all build ideas, stat thresholds you feel are necessary to meet etc please post it up so I can begin piecing together my ideal build for the role I seek to play on my Engineer!
