[Video] GvG/Large Scale/WvW Commanding
engineer and commander.
why dont u use 2 and 5 granade and f3?
and how is it going without stun breaker??

Grenade #5 is dropped on demand for Poison Field blast finisher spam so it’s a cooldown I try to save for the right moments, Grenade #2 is somewhat neglected when I’m spamming #1 like hell (something I REALLY have to work on) and F3 is the Grenade Kit Toolbelt skill, which should be use with caution as well because of the Retaliation damage.
Doing fine without a stun breaker.

It’s always a pleasure for me to see an engineer video of any sort , especially when there is FINALLY someone who is not using an HGH or perplexity runes.
I would be amazing to see some engy rifle videos too :S .
I use granades sometime but i take a lot more retaliation dmg .
I think i must look again at your videos , to see how often you take reta dmg .
On a side note , the #5 granade , i never saw a commander call that field during a fight , mostly because commanders do not care of engineers role in their group or they simply ignore what we can do and how to make use of us.
I’ll agree we (as some other class) can use some buff on the zerg-vs-zerg skills/ability cause atm i don’t feel my self that effective (fromt the strategy point of view).
Also , (for Dimes) is really dangerous for your group the way an engineer uses the # 5 of nades , especially when you make continue rush inside the enemy zerg , cause the combo field poison can cover the more needed water field for your ally.
I tend to don’t spam #5 if my zerg is face-to-face for that reason.
I use it only when my group is fairly far from enemy and the enemy is stacking buffs to prepare a rush or to recover from a rush.

Do not generalize the good commanders with the bad. I have to speak up about this. Last night for example, The commander we had were asking engies to use heal turrets and water fields on gates to heal the ram users. Asking for those with bomb kit to stack might with fire bomb. And stationing grenade users in key points on the wall at bay in its defense. I even heard him ask the 2 with use using FT to burn through the gate when defending, and warning them to pause when they received retaliation damage until the retaliation buffs dropped. (to be fair, it was rare that we had to worry about retaliation from the TC guys).
My point is that it is unfairly presumptuous to make such a blanket statement about commanders because it is simply not true.

Number #5 skill on the Grenade Kit generates three Poison Fields. When we push into a blob of heavies (Hammer/Shout warriors and Staff/AH/EM guardians), we call for Poison Fields, usually casted by necromancers, SB thieves and engineers, so we can get Area Weakness (-50% damage and endurance regeneration, stacks in duration).
Most of the large scale and GvG tactics are not class dependant (except for the guardian Empower and mesmer skills).
Engineers can bring fire fields, smoke fields, water fields, poison fields and light fields. We can also blast said fields up to 6 times in a blink of an eye. Also, stacking condition duration allows us to put some serious condition pressure on a large group, since Grenadier allows us to potentially hit up to 15 people, we can keep on stacking Vulnerability, Bleed, Poison, Chill, Blindness and Torment/Confusion (depending on rune/sigil choice) from a safe distance of 1500 range units, while having enough +% condition duration to bypass Melandru/Antitoxin runes and traits like Dogged March and Leg Mods. You provide massive field control just by spamming grenades on huge blobs of players trying to regroup. In the absence of a guardian, we can also provide aoe stability for 6 seconds (if traited). You just have to adapt to the needs of your group and understand that it’s not about classes. If you can do what other classes are popular for, you are being useful. I don’t think it’s a problem with our class, it’s just that because the engineer has such a high skill ceiling that a lot of people choose to not play it, thus being ignorant of our features.

Nice vids m8. Cheers) Keep it up)
As commander engineer, i don’t like engis in my squad alot, because of tons of useless builds that i see over and over (not yours =)). This class it seems is pretty complexive for people and they need alot of time to get used to it’s gameplay. Another issue is that, there are no “pattern” builds for engis.
