This needs to be implemented. Every other class can customize how their weapons look but we’re stuck looking identical. Allow us to somehow customize our weapon kits so that we might have some uniqueness.

My idea was to give engineers a “kit” weapontype that would govern damage, sigils and appearance of all kits and turrets.

– They’d get their second weapon slot back, and be able to either equip this weapon, or rifle/pistol.
– Kits would still be utility skills.
– If you don’t have it, kits would be as they are now
– If you swap to it, it activates your last used kit

Perfect.

The problem is that since engineers are the only class that can use those weapons, ArenaNet would have to devote a ton of resources to make skins for one of the most underpopulated classes. It’s just not worth it to please something like 9% of their playerbase.

Maybe there could be a couple rare skins for the armed kits — Tool Kit, Flamethrower, and Elixir Gun. That would be an okay compromise.

What, you don’t think we should get 10 legendaries for the price of one? Blasphemy!

@Timeslice: But.. they’re the ones who created the system like this. If we chose this kit system then I could understand ANet saying “Well, it’s a lot of work for us to rework our system around your custom design”. But they did it. The same argument doesn’t really work otherwise.

While I have to agree that it would take a lot of time and resources to accomplish what might not seem like much .. it’s one of those things where .. if you can’t finish it, don’t start it.
