So i am coming back to Engineer, i had one before months and months ago but deleted it barely got to level 15-20 so dont know alot about them. I was wondering, How does Weapons and sigils go with Kits.

I mean will kits do more damage and such if my weapon is more powerful? Say that i am level 20 nothing changes but my weapon it does more damage and has higher stats then previous one, would this make my weapon kits (Flame, Nade and Elixir) do more damage?

Another question i have, I am guessing things like Corruption sigils work with kits, if you kill something with a kit you gain a stack but how does “On Crit” and “Weapon Swap” sigils work. At a guess On Crit would work the same way. Would Weapon Swap ones activate through kit swaps as well? of course the 9/10second cool down would stop you being able to continually use them

Kits have their own damage stat. I believe it’s 969 @ 80 (scales with level).

On crit/kill sigils will proc regardless if you have your weapon or a kit equipped.
On swap sigils will trigger on a kit swap as well.

All sigils are subject to the same internal cooldowns, and rules as on a normal 2-weapon profession like a Warrior.

So if i have say a weapon that deals 986 – 1205 damage means i am LOSING damage by using kits? I am guessing the weapon stats (Power, Vit, ect) all still affect the Engineer when they are using a kit?

Weapon stats remain in effect when using kits. Kit attack falls between Pistol and Rifle. The numbers you referenced are for a Rifle I believe.

@ArmageddonAsh: Please look at this page for a detailed look at base kit damage @Level 80, power scaling of individual kit skills, actual cast time including aftercast, and weapon constants (base damage calculation with Power coefficient).

In terms of stats given by a weapon, (i.e. a Berserker’s Rifle), the damage stat i.e. 986-1205 is not taken into account when using a kit and the steady 969 value is used instead. However, the stats like Power, Precision and %Critical Damage all contribute to your attributes even when holding a kit, so you still gain the benefit.

That being said, when Ascended Weapons are introduced with a new damage bracket, Engineer Kits will fall even further behind in terms of damage. I’ll look forward to what Arenanet plans to do when such a thing occurs.

That being said, when Ascended Weapons are introduced with a new damage bracket, Engineer Kits will fall even further behind in terms of damage. I’ll look forward to what Arenanet plans to do when such a thing occurs.

Likely something buggy, broken or not wanted most likely.

They’ll just scale up the damage. Perhaps after a condition is met, like an achievement for acquiring an Ascended weapon. I can’t see it being that big of an issue. Currently kit damage is on the level of the highest type available (Exotic). Why would that change when Ascended weapons are introduced?

Kits deal independant damage of weapons, but all weapon stats (ie. power, precision, and crit damage on a zerker weapon) stay the same equipping or unequipping a kit.

Furthermore, sigils do work with kits.
