I was piecing together Power + Precision gear until recently when I unlocked the Karma Merchant in Malchor’s territory where you can buy the Archon armor of Dawanya which is Power +Toughness.

I seemed to stay up in fractals and dungeons a ton longer and I am liking the gear. I am constantly changing armor and I was just wondering what other engineers use.

What stats seem to be working best for others, and what is the ultimate end game Armor?

At the moment there is no ultimate end game armour, with ANet firing up the gear spiral that’s probably subject to change though.

Which one of the exotic variants is best for you, depends entirely on your build and playstyle.

The armor I where is on my body. I thought that’s where everyone wears armor.

Need Runes of the Ogre. Tried to get some onyx lodestones, forget it, it’s actually easier to find a job in this economy then getting those stones to drop and sadly I only need six.

Power/Toughness/Vitality – on the theory that dps means squat if you’re not alive to do it. Still agonizing over runes though, as a Pistol/Shield/Elixir (Gun) user there’s so many to choose from!

I mainly play PVE (Dungeons, fractals, large group zones), and I understand there is no “end game armor”, but for those that have seen most of the armor options what are you choosing?

It depends on what you’re doing, your build, and role you’re playing. I have a full Berserker’s (Power/Prec/Crit) exotic set that I use for farming gold and karma in PvE, and when I run my glass cannon Grenades build in WvW. I also have a full set of Orr karma Soldier’s gear (Power/Tough/Vit) that I filled in with rare (yellow) Soldier’s accessories and WvW pants. I use this when I want to play a tanky build. I’m also planning on putting together a Clerics set for support/healing.

I mostly play WvW these days, and I find the full glass cannon spec to be the most fun and rewarding. Yes you’ll get owned in small group encounters sometimes, but most of the time in WvW, when you’re going to die you’re going to die and no amount for defense or HPs is going to change that.

Well, it’s crafted, so that’s the easiest way to get it. You can also get it with dungeon tokens. The Cleric’s stat is Power/Healing/Toughness. You can also obtain Healing gear from the Orr Karma vendors that is Precision/Vitality/Healing.

So you could mix the two to have a good balance of Toughness and Vitality. You could use the 5 Karma armor pieces and Cleric’s jewelry for example. 5 pieces will cost you 210k karma though so it requires a good amount of farming.
