When we heard the news about classes getting access to more weapons later this year, we all were immediately fixed on the idea of getting a melee weapon. And as much as I would like to get a mace or hammer, I feel like a big flaw for the Engineer right now is also the lack of a legitimate underwater weapon.

The harpoon gun is entirely outclassed by kits underwater—especially the Grenade Kit. It has a pull skill, which seems kind of strange for a ranged weapon, especially since it’s a retreat and a pull skill in one … and really only works in support of the Bomb Kit to help keep enemies within range.

While I very much want to see a dedicated melee weapon introduced later this year for the Engineer, either in the form of the mace, axe, sword, or hammer, I would also implore that while the Grenade Kit is super effective underwater, I would like just as much to have a dedicated underwater weapon that actually performs up to standard, on the same basis for why players want dedicated melee weapons.

As much as I am all about reducing kit dependency, I think relieving us of the necessity to use kits underwater is just as important.

Harpoon gun 2 and 4 are incredibly powerful skills, but I agree with you about the rest. #3 seems entirely meant to chain with mines and I have found no other purpose than a meaningless and unreliable interrupt. I would like more variety across all professions for underwater combat, but also more incentive to play underwater other than for dailies or for the easy fractal. I agree with you, just don’t discount those 2 powerful skills in your underwater rotations.
