Guild Wars 2

This is kind of a random question I was thinking about while using the Flamethrower on my engineer looking at my weapon mastery achievement stats….At first i thought it was weirdly classed as ‘sword’ but after finding out that elementalist arcane skills as classed as sword kills I disregarded that.

Does anyone know? my curiosity has twitched to this recently :\

hmm… I’m not an achievement hunter so I dont really know what all achievements there are.
If there is a bundle kills achievement its probably that one. Or maybe it grants the kill to the weapon you have equiped. Or it could very well not give a kill to any of them.

I dont have access to the game right now, but couldnt you just write down how many kills you have of each weapon type, kill a few things with the flame thrower then compare?

You don get achievements from flame thrower(or any kit) kills. I would know because i played with flamethrower/elixir gun between lvl 20-60.

Its class is ‘Weapon Kit’

It’s not a ‘ranged’ attack though, or at least one that fires projectiles. The second skill is, but the autoattack does not count as one as you can happily flame the mesmers in AC catacombs, but they’ll send your ball o’ fire right back at you.

Weapon master achievements are progressing when you’re dealing killing blows with any of normal weapon skills, either main hand or off-hand. Killing blow with grenade kit/bomb kit/flamethrower/elixir gun/toolkit/utility skill will never raise any of those achievements, as all of those skills aren’t tagged as rifle/pistol/shield skills

Same rules for every other class. Necromancer in his F1 form (don’t remember the name) will never score weapon kills. Mesmer detonating illusions, necro minions killing enemies, norn transformed into sacred animal and so on, and so on…
