Engi has never been the preferred class in pve and wvw.
In fact we have been kicked out of the team most the times.

Even now, that metabattle stated an engi pve build as great, I get kicked out quite often and find myself insulted, though i have pretty much perfected the rotation.

In wvw i havent found a single guild, which liked the fact, that i would like to play engi.
Therefore i have been asked frequently to switch to another class. This frequent asking kittened me up to a point, where i left already 14 guilds as they asked me every time we played.

And now as we arent even meta in pvp anymore (the only place, which we were able to compete with the others), i would like to ask, where we belong now?
I know, that engi has been a long time one of the pvp-king-classes, yet it has to be clearified, that this has been the only place for us to play on highlevel.
For now on highlevel-skill, every current-meta-class outplays us easily. And i didnt meant scrub vs pro, but pro vs pro.
In addition now, that metabattle has stated the new meta-builds almost everyone will be playing those….

Sure there are ways to play the engi (except wvw: he is a piece of kitten there), but its no comparison to the other classes.
Shouldnt have every class not at least one gamemode, in which its part of the meta?

PS: i know the ranger met the same fate, as does the necro, though necros can atleast play wvw.

You need better friends and a better guild. As well, you may be kicked of teams, but who is the “we” you claim are getting kicked off teams?

I find most enjoy my might stacks, turrets cleanses and water fields and blast, my vulnerability stacking, my mortar fields, and my AoE damage.

It seems you and I have had very different experiences, yet you say “we”?

If you are getting kicked from guilds because you’re playing a class you like then you aren’t joining the right guilds.

I am primarily a dungeoneer, and I have never been kicked out of a dungeon or Fractal group for playing an engi, ever. Only once in 3 years has any group asked me if I could switch to a meta class, and when I said “no,” they said “ok” and we finished the dungeon.

Don’t join groups that advertise “zerker meta” or any specific classes. If you do and then get kicked, well duh.
So in short: I call shenanigans.

Engineers are amazing in dungeons and fractals right now. They’re also a staple class for Tequatl defense and Wurm condi groups.

WvW, we’re still one of the better roamers out there, and while I think we’ll be edged out of the meta in Conquest, Stronghold is a completely different story. It’s important to remember that “meta” doesn’t necessarily mean “only.”

And unless you really plan on competing in tournaments, I don’t think it really matters for PvP. I played non-meta, “good” builds in GW1 for years and still played relatively well; solo-queuing rarely has the pristine match-ups where meta builds actually shine most.

First of all, there’s no reason to ever kick someone out of PvE content because of their class. If this is happening it’s either 1) not really because of your class or 2) because the group really doesn’t understand how little of a difference class makes (even necro can speed through content just fine).

In sPvP, it’s not your class keeping you from doing well. A good recent example of a top tier group running with engi is TCG.

If you want to do well at this game, the first step is to stop looking for excuses and start finding solutions.

I’m a Dungeon Master and all I do is run zerker meta dungeons and I’ve only been kicked once for my class. You should find a better guild if they’re not letting you play your class and ignore the kittenheads.

Engineer is crazy amazing. All fields, great dps, great kits, great utilities.
