I’ve had Engi as my main for quite some time now, but I’m pretty bored of it and want to switch to a high-burst class with default survivability and takes knowledge to use effectively.

I’m thinking of going for Thief, though I was also looking towards my already lvl 80 Mesmer, but I feel it doesn’t offer the whole package, nor do I like all the pink flashy-effects.

Any suggestions?

As for me, I first did a Mesmer and then the Engineer. The Necro after them was unbelevable boring. Then I created a Thief and hell he’s alotta fun! Pretty hard to use first, especially if you played a high healthpool class before like the Mesmer.

But Thief it is!! Trust me!

Warrior!

They are good in PvE and WvW and roaming and easy to play.

Only Warriors match your description.
Regarding knowledge… coming from an engi… every other profession will be easy (except Ele, if we are not talking about PVE).
Mesmer is a good alternative, but they don’t have burst. To know when to pull, when to reflect… needs knowledge I guess.

Shatter Burst is one of the craziest bursts ingame…

Thief: a nice choice for weapons, active dmg mittigation (dodges / leaps / cloak), active play style.
Mesmer: too purple, too much glamour, definitely not my style.

Thief is great fun. Exceedingly quick gameplay.

I would say a ranger. Seriously, it is a hard class to play well!
And, the developers seem to have plans for it, so now might be the perfect time.

Thank you for the feedback! Firstly, Warrior=NOPE. I’d prefer to be a Necro over Warrior, sorry. I feel it’s just a class which requires no skill what-so-ever. As opposed to the Builds I play, I need to think logically against almost every enemy.

I am really considering playing a Thief.

Mesmer… I’ve tried it, like it, but it’s too repetitive for my tastes-just doesn’t suit my game style if I’m honest: I move more than I need to maintain an illusion (metaphorically).

Ranger… Yeah, I’d give in to a Ranger, only if they weren’t such easy kills, heheh-i tend to find any Ranger for my lvl 80 Mesmer, Engi & Necro is a free loot bag, no matter my Build, plus I’ve experienced a Ranger up to lvl 68 as my very first class; it’s fun, but I’m not a keen fan of using it repeatedly.

And yeah, I’m talking mainly about PvE and WvW.

I have found Thief to suit my purposes and roles in which I help others and use techniques to down specific enemies to gain support from any allies, use them to my advantage and down any others around-that’s how I play-not sure whether that’s a “support” class or not, but it’s independent and dependant depending on the situation entirely.
