Or why is engineer so hated/forgotten? Title and former are the only two reasons I can think of for why engi has been left in the trashcan.

Like most of you guys, I’ve been waiting for fixes but man this update- wtf?

*Elixir S working from trait was nice~
*Minor buffs to turret skills is nice, but turrets still aren’t viable in most situations
*Magnet is useful now & 1 second to Gear Shield was welcomed

Other than the above everything else seemed to be a typo fix, aquaman engineer action, or a nerf (grenades & smoke bomb). Did I miss anything noteworthy? Feel like I’ve read the notes several times over in disbelief considering the options other jobs have and bring to the table.

*Ft still seems to fail in terms of dmg/bugs~ 45 points (jug + deadly mixture) to do about the same damage as a rifle
*Stats/sigils for weapons
*med kit stow….and the list could very well go on

-ps any of you guys try grenade barrage underwater yet? lol apart from being inside of the mob can’t seem to get more than 3 to land at once if I’m lucky

The difference here is Engineers aren’t just plagued by small balance issues. This isn’t a matter of “lmao pls buff cus i want 2 1shot everfing”. This is a matter of “We’ve had these bugs since BETA please fix” and then getting complete silence, and a couple useless buffs. (Oh goody, 10% speed and -10% pvp damage to the only kit that wasn’t complete kitten Now i can get pigeonholed into a single spec even harder)

The buffs to Turret A.I, lack of any legit burst damage without giving up condition/stun removal, and overall Engineer damage output being kitten can come later, for now, i just want these stupid, huge bugs and trait issues to get fixed up.

At what point do you not think this is exactly what they say and how they feel?

Every class has issues that have been there since beta.

It could very easily be argued that whether or not engineers are worse off then other classes is all in your head

I disagree. I’ve played other classes seem much tougher/easy all around compared to an Eng. Thing I hate about Engi more than anything is that we’ve got all these cool abilities/kits but most of it is subpar/sucks and can’t use half of them in PvP/PvE cause you’ll lose. I’d love it if all of our kits were viable in PvE/PvP.

I’d love it if I didn’t have pointless/redundant traps as a thief.
I’d love it if ranger wasn’t so underpowered.
I’d love it if Warrior wasn’t so boring, and simple.
I’d love it if Necro didn’t have so many bugs.
I’d love it if my Mesmer had decent AoE for PvE.
I’d love it if my Guardian had a weapon that was decent at range.
I’d love it if my Elementalist wasn’t forced into extremely specific trait lines, and builds.

we’re not talking about other professions, their issues, or the concerns of their players. we’re talking about engineer issues and the patch’s failure to address long-term bugs or to alleviate much of the engineer playerbases’ concerns.

comparing the patch’s effect on other classes to justify the slap in the face we got is not a valid argument. also, who cares? we’re on the engineer board, so let’s talk about them.

i’m personally disappointed because i was looking for fixes/balancing to some unused/underpowered skills and traits, and instead we got nerfs to two of the only viable specs. i guess we let ourselves down by having high expectations.

I’d love it if Thieves had more viable weapon combos.
I’d love it if Mesmer mantras would auto-prepare when I leave combat.

A couple things with this post. Warrior is boring because its a kitten warrior. I pick up weapon, i hit you, you die. Thats what a warrior is. Thats what a Warrior does. Unless we want realistic warriors which would use SPESHUL TAKTICS and revolve around group/army warfare which would be interesting but in MMO’s where 90% of people want to go lone wolf aint gonna happen.

And Mesmer not having decent AoE for PvP? Are you out of your mind? The AoE Quickness is already a boss-melter and Shatter kittening hurts bro.

It would have been pretty easy to implement a few warrior weapons that heavily rely on combos to inflict maximum damage or achieve maximum protection for soloing. Instead, the devs went for something much more simplistic.

For the record, I think Eles, Mesmers and Guardians offer the best combination of power and entertainment right now.

If anything they seem too worried about providing new content to fix some old. I don’t want them to skip the Christmas event to fix old bugs but can skip new dynamic events and other small stuff to get the bugs done.

I took your advice and after looking at the other forms I came to the conclusion that people use weapons with stats and sigils. This combination seems to be optimal for performance.

I am now trying to figure out how to have weapon stats on my flamethrower with a sigil. Through the recent days however, it has been hard to test as the flamethrower #1 & #2 attack seem to miss quiet often.

Thank you for this eye opening revelation. Once I am able to figure out how to have weapon stats and sigils on my kits, I do believe it will change the job and make it more viable.
