Hello frands! Vee Wee here, #1 Engi NA and world first rank 80!

Thank you for your kind words my frand Otakin! That must not have been a hotjoin though! On the rare occasion Vee Wee plays a hotjoin, it’s always to wait for a queue! And Vee Wee does not care about winning or losing in hotjoins! Vee Wee never attempts to cap a point or even neut enemy controlled points in hotjoins!

Wahoo! Bye frands!

Hello frands! Vee Wee here, #1 Engi NA and world first rank 80!

Golly gee willikers my frand Raiff is that the thanks I get for trying to help your clueless bum in that other thread! Vee Wee answered so many of your questions! These questions were extremely basic Engineer questions too! Oh well! A thankless job this is trying to help newbies on this 4um!

PS Turret Engineers are very bad! If you ever face anybody even remotely competent you will get your booty smacked! Bootysmack!

Wahoo! Bye frands!

It was that thread that showed me what kind of person you are. Technical stuff, you’re spot on. But in the opinion arena, you side with the safe crowd. I don’t blame you, that’s probably how you got in the top 10 for PvP, you did what was proven and easy. But that’s not what makes games grow, or promotes change of any kind in this world. Experimentation, imagination, and a willingness to break away from “What is proven to be right” to try and improve other ways., that is what promotes growth.

So sadly Vee Wee, you are par. Not above, not below, but average. no matter how good you do, if you never use your imagination and skills to promote change, you will never be above that.

Also, you suggested against turrets. I did the bomb/grenade walk that you suggested. It was boring, played, and countered. I went turrets, and every match after, my team rocked. So you can see what data I have to suggest you really don’t know more than the basics.

Adios Amigo!

What a snob… do you think you know everything about engineers? Do you really think the “top 10” do not experiment? Seriously… how do you think that those “meta” builds are made? Its very good players experimenting with the game til they basicaly tried everything possible and found out what actually works and those players usually invest a ton more time into doing that than the average player. Do you think you personaly have more insight into the game as the whole collective of all top players combined? Stop beeing so full of yourself. The status quo that you personaly hate so much is nothing more than the combined knowledge of all players playing that game for almost 2 years now and that patch in particular for 6 month.

You made another thread here asking the most basic things about engineers. That shows that you have basicaly zero clue about the profession. So in short you are the new kid that acts all smug and thinks he knows it all. Get of your high horse kid.

I usually take a single flame turret along with my grenade kit. Its not a ‘full turret build’, but i do use a turret, because turrets are part of what defines an engineer, in my opinion.
When i first made an engineer, i was told there would be turrets. I love turrets – the strategical options are often really expansive. However, in PvE, especially in the current meta, turrets just simply aren’t very useful, even a bit underpowered if you ask me. So i play with a turret there where it can actually be productive – in sPvP.
Also, i just like having a flame turret in my build to plonk down when i start a fight. Its useful without having to go all ‘full turret cheese’. So partially that, partially cause i just want to use the turrets that i was told i would have when i started playing engi.

A valid reason to say why turret are so famous atm.. They got buffed and compared to other builds easey to maintain. Not hard to get the best out of them like kit builds.
Other then that engie who have poor condi removel and no stability, those two option seem to be the only valid ones to mean something in pvp. Who cares turret build have no condi removel or stab… Our whole class doesnt have much either way XD.

They didn’t even get buffed, they had some crippling bugs fixed after months of being broken, so people think they got buffed when all that happened was that QA got tired of people complaining and actually fixed them.

Edit: Oh, and I guess they got some more trait options, but I wouldn’t call those buffs.

Sometimes I think it’s funny to run turrets in PVP (exclusively) just to troll people, since so many people rage about them. (And I’m probably not the only one that likes to see thieves and hambow warriors cry that underused professions are OP lol)

The gameplay is stale, but player reactions just from seeing a rocket turret can be priceless sometimes. :P

hehe good Point both of you. Rocket turret is actually very good. I use it in my main pvp build. Strong DPS and good firing rate, overcharge has decent CD and ads the nice outar sourced Knockdown. Perfect hiding behind your gear shield when overcharging rocket turret. 9/10 decent and good players dont keep it in mind and will get that knockdown that turns a battle around.

In general PvE/WvW I don’t because they either die to quickly and/or they don’t have the mobility required that other builds have. In PvP however I will happily run a 2/2/4/6/0 or 2/0/6/6/0 turret build using experimental turrets for the boons.

The build amuses me, more so when camping the cannon in skyhammer, and its surprising how often I can easily handle a 1v1 or 2v1 with it, despite the lack of stun removal. Thumper turret and rocket turret overcharge seems to keep on taking people off guard, giving me enough time to run around kiting on the cap point/cannon while the turrets do their thing.

Would like turrets to become somewhat more mobile via a trait that changes detonation to a teleport for the turret. If they did become more mobile then I’d probably use them more often outside of using rifle turret (SD builds) and healing turret.

So, as a new engie I began weaning myself off turrets with 2 turret builds, then 1 turret, then I looked at the trait investment for that one turret, said screw it and went to FT/Exgun/ExS with might stacking and juggernaut trait. Finding more success than turrets overall and I can counterplay much better.

FT is a better weapon than people give it credit for because it’s on tap cleaving. I really think it’s meant to be the counter to pet and ai builds, very easy to cleave down other turrets or mm necro or mesmer pet fields for example.
