Why does my camera angle affect whether my flamethrower hits or not?

1. Walk up to a Doe with your camera angle facing it directly in front of you. Your toon should be looking at the Doe directly.
2. Start lighting it on fire with your “Flame Jet” ability.
3. Adjust your camera angle 90 degrees while still facing the doe with your toon and watch “miss miss miss miss” start popping up.
Is this working as intended?

That made me quit FT.
Waiting for fixes.

Holding right mouse button makes you aim in that direction, this is true for all professions. On my guardian I can shoot a ball up at the sky if I hold the right mouse button and look up.
You’ll notice that outside of combat, turning the camera doesn’t change where your character is looking, but while in combat it does.

Thats good to know lorazcyk, thanks.
So it seems here that the bug is the visuals do not show a direction change when you adjust your camera with right click.

I agree, it gets so friggin annoying seeing those ‘misses’ pop up when I just turn my camera a bit. You have to pretty much center yourself directly in front of the enemy before you even shoot.

It is definitely a bit wonky. If you are a keyboard turner you are even more screwed than normal with a flamethrower. I think other classes that have cone effect spells have the same problem as well however. I’ve seen elementalists run up to people and use a frost breath skill and just miss everything. Something they probably have to figure out with the game engine.

I played with the wonky camera angle yesterday and noticed if you move the camera then start moving forward with W, you will move in whatever direction the camera is facing instead of the direction your character is facing. Very disorienting, especially when picking up loot, it feels like the camera moves. You move forward based on the camera angle you were at while picking up loot.
And, when warping to a waypoint, why is it you are always facing north?
Is what the camera sees as front our front-even though we may want to look sideways and move like a platformer in jumping puzzles?
