Why is Sigil of Earth Not Popular?
It’s single target only and even with a crit chance of 50% it takes on average 2 attacks to trigger it, adding approximately another 1.5 – 2 seconds to the cooldown duration. Even with a 100% condi duration bonus this gives a max. 3 stacks of bleed.
The only way to reliably trigger the bleed almost immediately when it’s off cooldown are grenades and flamethrower #1 with a very high (>70%) crit rate. Grenades can easily stack 25 bleeds by themselves (even @ low crit) and FT#1 is so weak, that using it is a dps loss no sigil can compensate.
Sigil of Geomancy gives 3x 7sec stacks of bleed to multiple targets and some direct damage on top. And it is a 100% trigger on weapon swap, on which engies have no cooldown.

it was very useful when haste was 100% and the other engineer trait that stacks bleeds but since it’s only a 50% increase in cast time now the negative effect makes it a lot less useful then any other combination, however with the up coming changes to sigils we could see it making a come back
because there are way better sigils. battle, energy, geomancy, leeching
Wait. Did I miss that there is no 9 second cool down on sigil of geomancy? I thought “can’t be what he meant”. Went to Wiki and no comment on cooldown.
If so, oh my, that is amazing.
Anyone know?
yes geomancy has the same cooldown of all on swap sigils. It still outperforms sigil of earth though
I was referring to our kits having no cooldown, which allows us to swap weapons (=kits) just for the sigil effect, then immediately switch back without having to stay on the swap weapon for a full 10 seconds as other professions.
