dunno, lvl 80 exotic/ascended gear with full sets of superior runes / sigils makes a huge difference to stats if you ask me…

add on top of that grandmaster-traits, some of which are direly needed for certain kits to work and you know why the numbers on your screen currently are underwhelming…

and then you have a solid engineer-playerbase, loving a class that is not without a reason on place 3 of the raw dps-ranking, and one of the most powerful classes in PvP, which also – on a side-node – is one of the most popular classes for open world farming / trash-mob clearing…

So yea, your issues with the class stem from your lack of experience and – again – sub lvl 80 status.
