what about the flamethrower? where does the fire come from now? that was the only kit whose hobosack i liked and appreciated and i was actually surprised when i equipped my flamethrower and it was gone
Groucharino did say last night in a Twitch channel they have spoken about the bombs.
Hardly news though really, because it’s obvious they’d be fixed. As for the skins, he made no comment so. I doubt anything is gonna happen.
There should be one alternate set of skins for the kits, with more elaborate and futuristic-looking appearances.
Equipping a legendary or ascended weapon would switch to that set.
I’m going to guess we’ll see the other half after things calm down a bit.
Who knows? Maybe the delay is due to the designers wanting to make it possible for kits to use custom skins.

On the other hand, the flamethrower itself wasn’t connected to the backpack, so it wasn’t really clear where its fuel was coming from even with the backpack.
It was one of the better-looking backpacks, but it still looked out of place with all my high-tech level 80 gear.
I’d love to see some upgraded kit skins, however they get implemented (better looking skins when you have an ascended/legendary weapon equipped, having them change with your level, gemstore skins, etc.). But overall I’m pretty happy just to be able to see my spinal blades while I torch my enemies and lob mortar shells at them. Any further kit aesthetic changes would be nice but not nearly as important.
I actually pretty like the idea of them changing very slightly depending on level and/or gear level.

he old bomb wasn’t THAT big and it was fine! Right now it seems like one of those japanese wooden rice pans O.o
Grenade kit just need for it’s color to look more metallic, so it won’t look like an Onion stack.
I wish they would have just but a option not to show the sack as i enjoyed my hobo sacks especially for flamethrower and elixir gun now the flamethrower looks stupid.
Id like to see something that looks like its worth more then a few silver for all kits but especially the mortar kit, maybe anet could start making gems skins that reskin your classes skills/mechanics, like new skins for kits, new shapes/colors for guardian symbols or agies, new animations for the defferent attunments eles have

Seeming I have literally no idea about game creation and things of that nature.
Can anyone who has knowledge of this tell me how difficult it actually is to re-do the kits aethetics, so fixing the bombkit animations, and reskinning the elixer gun and the bombkit and mortar kit? I can’t see it being hard despite no experience with anything like this.
Also the mortar kit blind field. It says BURNS BRIGHTLY at the location, yet the skill animation is like a little bit of smoke.
Can we get a PROPER rework of all this please? And not some 5 minute job in your lunch break.
EDIT: Also, still no legendary auras and footfalls whilst using a kit. : /

I love the bombkit… Haven’t used it since patch… It looks ridiculous! End of.
I’m devastated about what they’ve done to engi. Not only have they destroyed my characters visuals by simply yanking out the various kit backpacks, but they’ve taken one of the things that gave character to my Charr engineer: the mortar. Is the grenade launcher kit (and let’s be frank, that IS what this is now) any good? Sure, I guess. But I liked the old mortar kit better, and my Charr just dropping down a mortar for her warband to make use of was so awesome, and it was something the warband loved in turn. I was always getting calls to drop the mortar in the Canton so my warband could do a bit of firing practice. Also, this worries me because what was a fun, Charr themed skill has been effectively yanked from the game and is now only accessible as this: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Deployable_Mortar_Kit
A-Net needs to take a long look at how they’ve done this and realize that they need to work more with the community on this issue, because just yanking away our backpieces and skills like this can leave a very sour taste in a lot of players mouths. Oh, and also, please, for the love of all things holy, fix the bomb animations if you’re going to change the look for them!

“Yanking out”. You there, listen up right here. This change was -begged- for for almost three years in one of the biggest threads in the entire gw2 forums. And it was finally given to us. You want that backpack look? The engineer starter backpack looks exactly like the kit ones. And don’t come to me with “But where do I store my weapons?” – The question is “Where do I store my six backpacks?” This is a result of them working with the community, NOT the other way around! The community wanted them gone. Badly!
Yes, the mortar was a pretty RP toy. It was also useless in gameplay. And as an RPer I can tell you, that gameplay is more important than RP. There’s the bundle mortars still, and there’s usable mortars out in the world. Don’t have to hang around the Canton all day.
The bomb kit animation is broked. I don’t think anyone is arguing that. Mostly for the fact that it is not in sync with the actual attacks. That is one of the main reasons this thread exists. That is something we hope will get made better.
And the current mortar looks cheap, yes. Who knows, maybe the negative mortar look feedback will lead towards a change that makes it look more… “Charr-y”.
Was this patch great for gameplay? Yes. Did it make the Mortar usable? Yes. Did we get some pretty visuals and some completely horrid unfinished ones? Yes, and yes.
Shooting at nothing with your static flavor RP mortar that despawns after 2 minutes and is useless in gameplay is sadly not as important as actually making that thing work ingame. I’m sorry.

For me it wasn’t really the hobosacks as much as how their design was samey across all kits in a very obstructive way when it didn’t need to be – would love custom setups for each kit, like a satchel for grenades and bombs, some kind of arm mounted glove flamethrower fuel cell etc. Would love that Not obstructive yet making more sense than something handheld only in each case.
A week later and still no offical word that is this being looked at?

I totally agree with the OT. Bombs kit and mortars skins are ridiculous. The feeling is exactly that these skins didn’t get 5 minutes effort to be created. I feel the same for shortbows (just a smaller copy of the longbows, and they look really terrible), but if I have a bad skin for just one weapon I can keep it, when these bad skins start to be more than one…well we have a problem :S
Honestly if this isn’t sorted out on Tuesday or at least have a response about it then Anet will probably destroy any hope I have for this dev team, well, destroy what is left of it anyway.

Oh man, the QQ is real.
Let’s list some of the things that happened, hm?
Medkit: High cast times. At least the shiny syringe effect stays for a while even after you picked it up sometimes. The skill shot element makes it useless.
Bomb kit: The animations are completely broken. I can literally not tell what is happening when I use it, and the animation makes it impossible to judge how far your skill cast is. It is actually wrongly timed! But hey, at least I can now be the master of telekinesis! I honestly thought I was locked in via some bug when using it several times before I realized the timing is completely off and does not work.
Mortar: Horrible visual is all I’ll say. It’s actually a piece of crap. It looks WORSE than the level 1 rifle. I -like- the level 1 rifle. This? are you kittening serious, Anet? In the times of Pale Reaver snipers and magitech, we get a wooden piece of crap? Some broken pot? With an inappropriate sound to boot? The flash shell’s visual does not work either. It’s -broken-.
Grenade kit: Legendary effect on Grenade Barrage is gone on untraited grenades.
Streamlined kits? The grenade kit mine does what it wants. Sometimes it stays five seconds, sometimes it stays 10, sometimes it explodes instantly. Grenades looking horrible has been discussed too.
And on a side note: They completely broke the wings too.
Anet, please give us our legendary effects on all of our kits especially grenades. Plasma nades were the only reason I got the predator. Also it seems that grenade barrage traited is broken since the disabling of the trait -.- no more plasma nades.

Well Anet, my faith has been officialy broken.
2 weeks and you can’t even comment that you’re even aware of how lazy this job has been, or how even such borked animations have not been addressed.
I’ll just let this thread die now, seeming you really can’t care about this issue, I might aswell just suck it up and ignore how insulting this issue is being handled as an Engineer player.

These are probably placeholders released too early because they’re trying to make up some goodwill by removing hobosacks as soon as they could.

But necros are an appreciated class, unlike engineer at the moment. Nearly every zerg we go to people frown on having engineers around to some extent. Add that to them losing Elixir Infused Bombs and you have even less reason to have engi participate in zerging.
