Why we do not have weapon stats on kits?!!
We do have weapon stats just not weapon strength. Weapon strength is automatically applied as the average for exotic weapons to all kits.
So why when I change to kit, my power is going down for example? How this is applied?
your power doesn’t go down. your attack goes down because the kit weapon damage is less than your actual weapon’s damage. also could at least format your misgivings in a non whiny manner? or at least less whiny thanks
I lose about 260ish damage when switching from my ascended rifle to any kit and I find it an annoyance. Though when I switch from an exotic p/s set to kits my damage stays the same so yeah the base weapon damage for kits is at around exotic pistol level (876 – 1028)
Thats my style, I am a whiner.:D
that might be a 5-10% damage drop pretty much ?
PS: shouldnt they making kits have damage of exotic 2 handed weapons be the most logical path after introducing ascended ?

i upgraded my rifle from rare to exotic. kit changed too, albeit slightly. so there’s a connection there, but it’s not a linear scaling.
The number you’re seeing changing when you equip/stow a kit is Attack. It means nothing. Literally nothing. Attack is simply power plus the higher end number for weapon damage. Nowhere is attack as a stat used in calculations. The damage formula is Power * Weapon Attack * Skill Coefficient / Target’s Armor. Kits have exotic level weapon damage that is, as you have noticed, lower than those of your pistols and rifles. This makes little difference, because what damage kits lack in weapon damage, they make up in higher skill coefficients. (Except flamethrower, but that’s a different issue.) The highest sustained dps we can do as engineers right now involves staying in kits most of the time.
The only real debate about kits’ weapon strengths is that they were bumped up to Ascended levels with the ascended weapon update, but later brought down to exotic level again, without any scaling when you equip an ascended weapon. This means there is little incentive for a kit engineer to upgrade to ascended weapons.
i just tested on the golems in HOTM. without gun/shield slotted (lying in inventory), using elixir gun, the damage numbers are indeed a bit lower than when gun/shield was equipped. now, for all i know, this could be a pvp-specific thing, but it seems at least that there’s an equipped item scaling there.

So you guys want to deal more damage with grenades if you have a rifle instead of a pistol in your pocket? o.O think about it.
The only thing that should matter is the rarity of the equiped main weapon → ascended = +5% dmg.

“want to”? no that’s not it. currently, there is (or seems to be, at any rate) an ever so slight scaling done, based on the equipped gear. but it’s not much.
also, if someone’s running sigils on their main weapons, they get no benefit from them in kits (and if you’re in kits a lot, that kinda sucks, i guess).
don’t go reading “reality” into it it’s a game, with numbers, and there’s a balance/fairness to uphold in that regard.
btw. i think my kit damage is fine, i just wanted to point out the scaling. but i can still see the point of the OP.

you do get the benefits of sigils while using kits. they changed that a while ago.
Sure you get benefits from sigils! That’s why almost noone uses the rifle since 2 weapons means approximately +5% dmg for all your kits.
Sigil of Force, Bloodlust, Battle, they all rock on Ingi.

The Asc bonus doesn’t apply yet right… if not I missed something there. As far as I know the only benefits to Asc weapons atm when in kit mode are greater base stats and the additional infusion slots.
AFAIK all kits use 969 weapon damage for their calculations.
Well if a mesmer equips an exotic weapon his phants will deal +5% damage compared to rare. There are testings of this somewhere at the mesmer forum. However WHY this happens – noone knows … 5% aren’t just the stats. Exo to Ascended was 1.5%, wich may have been the stats.

i wonder if the difference i see is from the ruby orb i’ve slotted, and not from the weapon? hmm. nah it was too much of a difference, i think.
but it’s definitely different, and not just a “969” thing, Hayashi.3416. otherwise, it wouldn’t vary with equipped weapons at all.
Well to all the “op” whiners – bomb kit reduces my dmg of big ol bomb by almost 600 , so it is weaker then exotic rifle (when i am not in the kit its way bigger dmg). I dont want rifle stats to apply but kit stats to be at least better, is this so much to ask? While other classes (we all know which one) have very usefull dps skills , many , many weapons, this sould be done to engineer months ago.
But when we got sigils on kits after 1 year, so who knows if it will be afterall “engineer is in the decent place right now”, I would not call it decent, more “kittenty”, but heck , what do I know, I just play only engineer since the beginning, witnessing all the nerfs and not fixed bugs….

i think it’s time to swap classes if you think the other ones are just so much better. clearly you don’t enjoy playing the engineer because literally 100% of your posts in these forums are just whining and moaning and complaining even after we’ve told you engineer is a great class and provided proof. why play something you don’t enjoy?
If u say that complaining about bugs is whining then I am a whiner. I enjoy playing it , but will continue complain about the bugs anyway.
BTW lots of posts here are being written by non-engineers or someone for whom engineer is not a main class. I wonder why…….. Especially posts about necessity to nerf something or justifying some nerfs… Very interesting.

A bug? No when ascended was first introduced the weapon strength for kits was at ascended level. They hit fixed back to the way it is now shortly. So clearly not a bug.

Well in general I refer to bugs related to design flaw of the class. I mean pathetic FT was good with inc powder, but they have destroyed the one and only usefull FT build down there…. If this is not “a bug” then I dont know what is. Many others bugs like long cd on some traits making it useless (protection after crit with cd – 20sec – wtf ?), why inv after being immobilized – cd 25sec? should be less. The same with cd related to both traits – resetting toolbelt and healing it could be 45-60 sec not 90.
Other classes have some viable powerfull options and we have as well but flaws make it less powerfull. In PvP engineer is not so bad (beside pathetic downed skills but there are not so imp).

I wouldn´t call it a good fix as it´s also unfair to have ascended weapon strength on kits with a green weapon equipped, nevertheless that´s what they gave us as a solution for kit-damage – and didn´t stick to it.
