Predator | Quip | Flameseeker | Juggernaut

So I’ve been experimenting with my new engi builds with the traits, Synaptic Overload is a nice trait for SD build or a rifle build, but the only problem is its in the wrong trait line. All the engineer most of the engineer knock back traits are in firearms, rifle and flamethrower traits. I really think it should be in Firearms instead and Bunker down should be in explosives. explosives has all the mine traits so i’m really confused why it’d be in firearms. Some of the engineer traits are in random places sometimes, I don’t play other professions so I’m not so sure if its the same with the others. But this trait line issues is pretty serious with SO and BD, please Anet would you consider in looking into it? If you still don’t agree I’d still like to understand your reasoning behind the traits.

I can’t justify spending 30 in explosives for it. There are too many great +damage traits in tools and firearms— not to mention the extra cit chance/damage. A slightly faster burst vs 10% rifle damage and/or 10% damage with full endurance… I know which I’ll be using.
Well, Bunker Down is an on-crit trait, so it’s for well… bunkering say on a point. it adds dps to an othewise lackluster crit build if you’re using Incendiary Powder condi build or running a hybrid. Let’s not forget that the mines proc things too so like sigil of ice and fire. They just don’t boon strip or I’d take it today.
Synaptic Overload is great where it is for anyone but a grenade user. It’s quickness that depends on (get this) any landed knockback, not any crit proc. What I figured out on it is that the knockback does not have to be sucessful! it just has to connect so you can proc it even on someone with stability, I believe. I’m gonna make a separate thread on it to keep from derailing but yeah, this is good for people that would rather spend rune slots and trait points on defensive things or more power. It’s more guaranteed spike and less RNG which is why I think precision is the wrong line for it. I think it’s in a good place.
What I really think bunker down will be great for is sigil of strength and frailty for might-building dps builds. It’s like how IP is almost guaranteed to proc even with 20% crit chance when you throw grenades. More hits mean more chances to gain might and apply vuln.

I think the newest gm traits were purposely put on traitlines that you wouldn’t expect them to be on, such as that stealth trait on acrobatics for thieves. It does give you a reason to branch out on other traitlines that you otherwise might not normally though, and ends up creating some build diversity.

This, very much so.
