Greetings, I wanted to show my POV of how viable engineers are in many situations in wvw as a defensive/support/heal/group spec’d engineer. I just started making video’s of my wvw outnumbered experiences finally and I would like as much feedback as possible; positive & negative (appropiate reasons why it was disliked). That way I can decide if I want to continue making vids or stop. I used 3 different builds in each video and these 3 are the ones that I am most comfortable with in a group spec. But the 3rd build by far is my favorite.

Spec #1: I went support tank spec since my duo partner is a thief and is perma stealth all the time so aggro all goes towards me.

sigils I used was life to build 25 stacks of healing first then swap to energy and water (30% chance to heal ally on crit)

vid 3 I just spent hours on end trying to come up with my own thief duo combo but heres another build thats similar, you can work w/ to get a good feel/foundation of the mechanics of the build

I’m going to sound like such a noob by asking this — but what are all those buffs? The wolf, bear, etc? Is that a racial thing? (I’m an Asura).

the buffs were called “blessings of bear,wolf, raven, snow leopard” its been nerfed now, and you cant use it in wvw anymore

I was more interested in the Armor and Trinket stat’s. It doesn’t seem like you ran full apothecary’s in the third video given the damage on some of the conditions and the fact that you are at about 21k health.

ahhh my secret I like to keep it to myself but what makes my build different is I run apothecary armor then trinkets i run shaman to balance out toughness + vitality thats the thing that seperates my build from everyone elses. Trinkets give more bonuses than armor does so yeah now ya know, I do that stuff w/ a lot of my characters I like to mix things up rather than focus just 3 stats.

Yeah I figured you had to have some shaman’s mixed in but I didn’t want to make any assumptions. I did the same thing for my troll thief regen build. Also even though the prices came down, passiflora jewelry is still expensive.

I’d like to play around with a build (something like 10/0/30/20/10) with half apothecary and half shamans, but I’m running out of bank room for sets of gear for my engie TT.

rofl that is another reason why i used apothecary first then shaman, cause apothecary trinkets cost way too much 50g alone per trinket then 9g for the jewel itself haha. but you can always do fotm for the trinkets, laurels for necklace, guild missions for earrings, then again ain’t nobody got time for that.

bingo QQing you got the right build & trait line, thats the exact same thing im running atm you sir deserve to be a healing engineer. Every other forum posts are silly trait lines or gears, and they dont even show vids of them using it unlike how you see my vids how viable/effective it is in a duo roam or small group speced team.

If I didn’t have alt-its and played all 7 of my characters in WvW, I would lol. I haven’t even touched fractals in months. Still on level 9.

but yeah now since you have the right mindset as in half shaman/half apothecary + same trait lines as me, the traits itself will be very easy to figure out. Good luck on building your team for wvw and hope you find a really good dpser that can maintain damage & sustain damage like my thief can.

As you can see I put someone else’s build that is kind of related to my build for a reason. People come ask me for a build I’ve experimented for hours on end, I give it away and they never talk to me again. Then I’d see every eng using this build, sooner or later it’ll get nerfed and all that hardwork would be wasted.

Yeah I have quite a large WvW guild plus a thief I duo with (played with him for years). I’ll play around with the trait lines, see what I like. Anyway, thanks for the input.

Though with the recent nerfs to confusion it lost somewhat of it’s schwung. So I haven’t played it that much as of late.

When I command I run full pvt gear and switch Elixir gun for Elixir S, ain’t no tank like a full blown engi.

yeah the recent confusion nerf my goodness it takes me forever to kill people in 1vN’s but the thing that helps me improve the most is solo roam w/o dps. It helps me get comfortable with swapping between all the kits and combo field smoothly that now its 2nd nature to me, I dont even have to look at my skills cd anymore its awesome.

Just realized, can always use settler’s gear for trinkets from Southsun, prioritized toughness over healing but still.

mhm you got everything for a top notch support engineer, now you just personalize it into your own comfortable playstyle.

Heres a list of nourishments that is viable for different types of situations:
Used most often:
Mango Pies (85hp heal per sec) goes well w/ your regen buff for double regen & triple regen if you have a guardian that gives you passive regen w/ virtue of resolve (think thats right) & quadruple regen if you wanna go tank and use runes of the dolyak just to tank only[Cheap 37c]
Loaves of Saffron Bread very useful since the weakness to this build is no stability, so when I know theres lots of cc then I pop it and I think it stacks w/ protection trait so you get -53% damage reduction [Cheap 41c]

Tryhard food for special occasions:
Bowl of Saffron-Mango Ice Cream 10% healing power puts me up to 1745 healing power w/ 25stack of life. Useful for party heal [Expensive 5s 57c]
Bowl of Lemongrass Poultry Soup Extremely useful for almost any situation, I think its most op food in game. Another weakness to this build is shortbow rangers that camp on you with bleedticks.. those will extremely hurt especially binding roots since you’ll lack damage from breaking free. Another weakness is confusion since you’re consistently swapping 3 kits & juggling around 29 skills, the food will counter that confusion stacks no prob. [Expensive 10s 83c]

Alternative Solution for special occasion nourishment
I just buy the ones that are 1 tier under it and its not as expensive

The wrench nourishment:
Tuning crystals w/e tier you feel like buying but the highest tier is expensive 12s 87c

That should set you on your way for everything now, if there is any other nourishment that I forgot, feel free to post it on here.

Got all my gear ^^, sitting at 20k hp and just shy of 3k armor. I must admit though, I’m new to using the healing turret and it’s water field. Is there a standard rotation to maximize the blast finishers? I’m pretty bad at this part.

there is no rotation but if you made the right traits then your magnet shield should be popping heals like nothing same as acid bomb (lowest cd that I use to splash)and overcharge thats triple splash. If you time it correctly you can go up to 5 splashes by adding the supply crate + pre set your big ol bomb but that is overkill using 5 splashes. 3 splashes will heal your whole group to full hp and cure their conditions no prob and its every 20 seconds. ALSO dont forget you can use regenerating as a water combo if you need extra heals & healing mist you have to be pretty close for everyone to get regen.

Yeah I’m getting it down. Didn’t know the cleansing burst wasn’t immediate so I need to get the timing down before using blast finishers.

A very useful tip that I’ll give you that I see all other eng do wrong is using magnet shield off the bat for splash. Only use it if you need to for extra heal otherwise or if you can afford it before next cd, its a life saver/game changer. Use detonate turret first then acid bomb since its 15 sec cd. The magnet shield can be used to push a group out of sr, push enemies off a downed teammate, push enemies off trying to res their allies, and interrupt heal/inc big damage skills or #4 bombb kit skill to get stealth and get away. Sometimes when I know someone is gonna get downed they come near me and I preset a big ol bomb on their body so no1 can get stomp.

No offense, i watched your first vid but after ~5 minutes of stomping upleveled guys and staff eles with a pre apocalypse spec and the help of a lololthief i stopped.

The second half of vid2 is more entertaining because 4kit builds is the only true challenge this game offers but its still before doomsday patch right? because you could swap to kits as mini.

my advice use super elixir more often, dont ever play without e-gun (remember how you were stucked without?;P) and the most awesome funtrick is: put down BoB target your enemy and magnet him to your position. funny as hell. And really stop hanging around with thiefs, it makes your whole perfomance unimpressive. Youre good enough to play with real men.

Yeah non-taken the 1st 2 vids were from when I first got my engineer to 80. But you’re right though if you see vid 3 I always have my elixir gun with me now. Tyvm for the feedback!

Indeed its a lil tough tanking/taking aggro of group but I’m fine with it since I know my partner can maintain dps and still survive due to his cloak and dagger. He’s prob the best duo to run w/ by far since he kills quick and efficient, also I don’t have to burst heal him as much as other classes either.

Another nourishment I’d like to add that is another good one:
Loaf of omnomberrybread gives +100 vitality +70 toughness (8s 70c expensive) can always buy the tier under it

Played around with a build that may be similar to yours. First time using bomb kit and elixir gun in WvW, and I’m LOVING it! I’ve been playing Mask’s build and tankcat, but this playstyle is much more fun.

Also tried a build based on yours this morning. Great fun in a small group vs small group situation (10-15 each side I would say) as you can really blast that water field to get your group back up after the initial shock. Went on 1 on 1 against a fellow engineer using mask build and it was a loooooong draw. We just left each other alone after that. That being said I have a lot of room to improve using the build
