WvW Engineer beginners build
WvsW opens up a kitten lot of different build’s, with a lot of minor tweaking left open for you depending on your taste? personally i experiment with several different setup these days, so I might have a few build’s that would interest you? But can you be more specific about what you seek? A Rifle power build? A Rifle CC build? AoE damage? P/P condition damage, or maybe a P/S Tank build?

Thanks for the fast reply
I’m thinking about focusing on power (my ranger is condition)
and i’d love to take a look on the p/s tank build also
start by checking out the Tankcat build. It’s based on Tool Kit with p/s and so on.
Might be something, it’s fun. The main thread on that shouldn’t be far down, page 1 or 2 here most likely. (Tankcat – prybar some faces…)
Of course there is also a sticky with builds, defenitely worth checking out.
Well in that case let’s get started!!
For a tank P/S build there is the all ready legendary Tankcat!:

He got his own thread, with trait setup and movie footage of it, and it’s worth the look for sure! His a great player.
My personal tank build, ain’t as tanky as the tankcat, but it got a few more trick’s to play around with, I have a thread and movie footage of that here:

For a power build, you got a few different option’s, also depending on which kit’s you want!
The Class cannon – Full Berzeker’s and pew pew:

A little footage of how that works aswell! Never done it much myself, don’t like to lack defence that much, but might interest you anyway!
This is my own Rifle Burst build, with a twist of Grenade’s for them siege fight’s, and it have been working wonder’s for me all ways
Here is a footage of it before the grenade nerf patch, but it still works great:

The trait setup looks like this:

Berzeker armor and weapon, Knigt’s Jewel’s. Pick 2x from 3 of these these runes: Superior rune of the Pirate, Fire, Hoelbrak or Strength, and superior sigil of strength and then see the might stack’s gong up!

Thanks mate! I am still low lvl so i haven’t unlocked all my utilities and i cant use many trait points atm. BUT this will get me started. I’m excited to try out as much as possible
A static discharge build will probably be your best bet at that level. It’s pretty straightforward and it works on power. Use a rifle with traits in firearms, use static discharge and speedy kits in tools and spend the rest of the points to your preference. Run rifle turret for the toolbelt skill surprise shot, toolkit for blocks, pulling, and wrench burst, and third utility is up to you. I use elixir S personally, for trolling people, surviving focus fire and escaping, as well as a stomp protection on the rare day when it’s not just easier to shoot them down.
Start off with berserker, ignore the tank builds if ur beginner, low lvl , ungeared! First traits into tools 10. Why? Speedy kits. makes u run faster. You soon notice its ur most needed trait.
If you are looking to level your alt in WvW I’d say either the rifle or the pistol / shield combo could work in a zerg. Although if you are going for power and higher damage that only leaves you with the rifle really. Which is fine for zerg work but you want to get the longer range trait in firearms if you want to be able to live through all the enemy area effect spells that normally go hand in hand with zergs.
I’d say engis are harder to level in WvW than other classes other than maybe the guardian only because they have very limited long range weapons to choose from. Grenades aren’t bad even after the nerf but at low level without the traits in explosives I’d say rifle is your best bet. With speedy kits traited and probably the toolkit for melee enemies and rifled barrels in firearms line for extra range with your rifle. Then I’d put points in vit and toughness until you know all the rotations and are more familiar with the class then you can spec as you like.

I can’t give up p/p for a rifle, it’s just too much fun.
use it with elixir B, grenades and elixir S (real lifesaver imo)
I need to gather some skillpoints to test more tho, but i think i’ll go for a full elixir build in the future.
advice/tips are still very welcome
I only suggested the rifle because of your non-condi build preference. I use P/S with elixirs B and S also but grenades almost never come out. I use toolkit most of the time but for defending keep doors the flame thrower comes out. Just keep a close eye on your health when defending a door and stay back a good little ways with the FT so you take less of the enemy AOE. Mostly the necro greater marks seem to give me trouble and of course retaliation.
