Hey guys,

we have seen many HGH Builds like Maska… ’s and others who play them with great success.
But I would like to utilize some bombs/grenates to fight against thiefs with their anoying shadow refuge. Since we have to invest 30 Points in Alchemy for HGH and boon duration.
Would it make any sense to build arround this setup??

I havnt done yet:
- Equippment
- Runes
- Sigills
- not sure about weapon choise.

BUT we get at least some solid might stacking threw HGH and 2 blast finishers with firebomb which is on a 10 second cooldown.
Maybe combiend with a sigill of Hydromancy for more CC so bombs can hit better.

I am only NOT using 3 elixirs because it really annoys me, that an engineer, who should have a large range of skills, is forced to use 3 elix (button smashing) and only one kit. So at the end we have almost the same amount of skills like a guardian has.
Since it is hard to reach the elementalists skill diversity, I want to try to at least go down the “middle way” for a bit more skill diversity.
And since more skills increase the chance to have the right skill for the right situation, I think it is at least worth to spend some thoughts on this.
What are your thoughts???

Imo, HGH wouldn’t be worth bringing with your only elixir being H. You don’t HAVE to bring HGH, just keep those utilities & change your traits.

well at least I got elix S aswell on a 48 sec cooldown. That makes 4 condition clenses in 54 seconds. Better then nothing I’d say. And probably better then antidote since it gives us Might each time.

I tried Bomb Kit in WvW.

It’s pretty much a situational kit if anything. I mostly use it when I’m defending walls to DPS people down because they don’t see me. Have you tried any of the Gadgets?

EDIT: Whether you’re going bombs or ’nades, cond damage is certainly a must. ESPECIALLY if you want to make use of those 5 stacks of Confusion from Toolkit.

no expert here, but ur might stacking wont be that high due to the fact that u wont or at least shouldnt spam elixir S to get might. Leaving you with 3 stacks of mights for using and tossing elixir H once. and due to its cooldown you wont get too high by spamming elixir h.
if you take enhanced performance (master explosive) you can get 3 stacks of might when using a healing skill (eventhough they only last 15sec not 20 like hgh). This trait has a 10sec internal cooldown so medkit would be optimal, but i guess id prefer healing turret, due to its cleansing ability. Its 2 cleanses every 19 sec if you explode the turret for extra water field blast finisher combo. Thus leaving you with roughly the same number of might stacks all the time. (i guess it might be a little bit less)

You could simply use the 10 traitpoints from hgh for grandmaster tier in explosives and add enhanced performance, making your bombs a bit stronger due to stats (power/cond duration) and adding the vulnerability on explosions via the minor grandmaster trait.
Also giving you the ability to change cleasing formula .409 to another trait like for example reduced toolkit cooldowns or backpack regenerator etc

I think you are certainly right. I just want to have more skills on my toolbar e.g. Bombs/grenades, Medkit, toolkit and any Stunbreak (Maybe the new slick shoes, sound quite nice)
Therefore I think I should completly rework the traits, put 30 into and some into Tools.

Whats your hint on equippment and runes?
I think for consumables Condi Reduction is a must. Otherwise Conditions will eat my kitten .

And since they will rework rifle and jumpshot, will the Burst DPS build with rifle, Nades (100Nades) and Toolkit become viable again? (Sitting Duck will be merged with Knee Shot, thats a reason more for rifle/burst build!)

EDIT: if I use Pistol / Shield as in the link above, can I combine Sigil of Hydromancy and Sigil of Battle? Or will that be problematic with internal cooldowns and so on?

You don’t have any elixirs, so it isn’t worth putting 10 into alchemy. Either choose a different trait or throw your 10 elsewhere.
