HoD since launch
Hello, so I have decided to dust off my engineer and start roaming with her in WvW. (mostly 5 man group). At the moment, I am running this build:
Quick rundown of it: It is conditions based using Pistol/Shield, Bombs, and Tool Kit. Running Dire/Rabid gear with Perplexity runes. 20/20/0/20/10 traits.
Only problem is that she seems a bit lackluster. Granted, my proficiency is very low at the moment but I don’t feel very effective. Bombs hardly ever hit anybody and wrench seems best suited for the block and confusion.
I am very open to any sort of advice engineer veterans can give me in the way of condi roaming with an engineer. Tips on either build or general play style are very welcome.
Thanks in advance!!
healing turret
ditch those alchemy traits for something else: prot injection / backpack regen / vigor-on-swiftness, or move to another trait line
coated bullets is iffy, switch rifled barrels for hair trigger
^+1
and: nades. much spam, so bleeding, very freeze and poison. wow. change for either tk or rocket boots, latter would be better.

Thanks for the input! Am switching traits now and getting rid of elixir heal for turret. I am wary of losing the rocket boots, good for get away or catching enemy…. I do love grenades… May try switching Tool Kit with Grenades and only putting on tool kit for situational
Going to try it tonight. Will see how it goes.
I like a rocket boots, toolkit, grenade build for solo and 1-2 person roaming. I also really like maximizing the effects of hitting 1 button, so I run with medkit, enhanced performance, sigil of battle, and runes of altruism. Additionally, taking speedy kits and invigorating speed gives swiftness and vigor. In a fight, it is pretty common to get 15+ stacks of might before any teammate applies might.
Swap to medkit will do the following for me:
1. 3, 6, or 9 stacks of might depending on the various cooldowns.
2. Fury (can be perma between altruism and using ‘5’ on cooldown).
3. Swiftness (permanent)
4. Vigor (50% uptime)
5. Altruism procs will give nearby teammates 3 might and fury.
6. It is also possible to buy the food that removes a condition on heal – works OK, but too defensive for me.
Here’s the build I use (it is somewhat hybrid, prybar and grenade barrage to a fair amount of damage)
ditch IP or EP for grenadier dude
seriously, it isnt worth having 30 in explosives and using grenades and not using grenadier
oh and sigil of earth shares an icd w/ battle, try corruption instead.. at least until the march balance patch.
your trinkets are messy.
settlers > apothecary.
Thanks for the feedback. I’ll look into some of the changes. Pretty sure that on crit and on swap sigils don’t share icd tho. As for the rest I agree it doesn’t look conventional, but for whatever reason it works out with my play style. It certainly isn’t a min-max build.
