Guild Wars 2

I just got back to the game after a ~2 year long break (quit before HoT came out) and I’m looking to get back into it. However, I’m not really clicking with the new elite specialisation, scrapper.

I really loved the playstyle of a roaming condi engineer so I’m hoping to get a build which is at least similar to that, which is still viable (mostly for wvw roaming purposes). I used to use healing turret, grenade kit (sometimes changed for bomb kit), tool kit, rocket boots and supply crate for this purpose. I’m totally fine with swapping some of this stuff out, but I would like to keep grenades/bombs at least.

I used to have a gear with rabid stats but it feels like I am doing roughly 0 damage with that to most other people (in pve it’s fine). Is it cause I am only wearing exotic and everyone else is using ascended? Or is it simply cause the new stat combinations released with HoT are just that much better? Or am I just bad?

I fail to see how you can do 0 damage. Unless all you are fighting is warriors.

Either way heavy elixir condi is probably the only vanilla build that can decently compete in WvW. Using grenade kit or bomb kit in WvW would be hilarious. I dont think I’ve seen anyone use that for at least 4 years.

Exotic vs ascended is 10% extra stat. A single dodge at the right time as opposed to a dodge at the wrong time nullify that by a factor of 5.

you cant do a whole lot in wvw without a stun break any more. pre hot you didnt really need one as much, but post hot theres too much cc flying around.

exotics are still fine, and rabid is still ok, but viper and trailblazer are just plain better. you feel like you do no damage because of a combination of this and more readily accessible condi cleanses.

the game has changed a lot.

i used those same utilities for ~3 years until hot came out and forced me to change. that wasnt 4 years ago, dawdler.

Cool, thanks for the comments. I am working on crafting a viper ascended set but I guess it will be a little while before I have that ready. Guess I just gotta get used to the new way of doing things.
