Hello all. I’m starting up my Engineer and thought I’d pick your brains for some advice. I’m going to be running the rifle for single target engagements and the flamethrower when dealing with groups of enemies. I’m not crazy about the low damage, intermediate range, and slow rate of fire with the rifle, but I’ll learn to live with it.
For my utilities, I always run one to boost my damage output, one to get me out of jams, and one signet for the passives that enhance what it is I’m trying to accomplish with the build. Obviously Engineers don’t have access to signets, so that’s where I’ll be inserting the flamethrower.
For my extra bit of offense I’m going to run the rifle turret. The general vibe I get from the community is that it’s not anything to write home about, but it should serve to help me down my enemy quicker than me just rocking my rifle/flamethrower skills.
For my defensive utility skill I’m not sure what to run. I was originally planning to run the Toss Mine ability, but in 100%‘ing the starting zone I was underwhelmed by it. I’m now considering Rocket Boots, Battering Ram, and Slick Shoes as an alternative. To give you an idea of the types of skills I usually run in this slot, my Warrior has Fear Me, my Guardian has Sanctuary, my Thief has Blinding Powder, etc. What utility skill along these lines would you guys recommend for the guy seeking a “oh crap, hit the panic button!” skill?
I should also mention that I’m a non-Dungeon/Fractal running PvE’er. I’d appreciate any tips you guys can give me, be they general or specific. Thanks.
