battering ram
Nice. I havent used that skill in a long while. Must try it again.

I’m pretty sure I ran into someone using Pistol / Shield, Flamethrower, and Battering Ram once. I spent most of that fight on my back.

This skill is good. The reason why we don’t see it often is because we don’t have room for it.
A typical engineer will use at least one kit, one CC breaker. You are left with one utility, which is usually another kit or an elixir.
We have few build that have rooms for a non-CC breaker gadget. Especially since they have low sinergy for any traits we have.
The only build I have that use it is a SD build. And I love battering ram toolbelt skill. It hits hard!
About the utility itself, when it works it wonderful. But am I the only one that have it fail a lot during my fight? Sometime the enemy is right in front of me, and it still fail. Not sure what is the issue. The range is also really short.

I used it a few times but I don’t think its all that worth it, even if it is to some. To me, its just a simple effect with a short range and relatively long cooldown, but then again all gadgets seem to act like that.

agree, but the range isnt the problem, all gadgets are good in my opinion, i love their skills but that cool down needs to be balanced.. we could go on FT and have a knockback on a 15cd, why is ram 45 ? no ideea :P
The problem is Engineer utilities are extremely powerful compared to other class options, which would theoretically make up for that damage tax. Battering Ram is more equivalent to that of someone else’s utility so it’s difficult to pick up. In fact a lot of our utilities have this issue, even considering the tool belt skills that come along with it.
Battering Ram is a great skill, but you could pick up the Flamethrower for a knockback instead.

Yeah, we have so many knockbacks on much lower cd, its almost not worth taking. Airblast has a longer range and shorter cd, thumper turrets overcharge is on 30cd (you can pick it up to lower its 50cd placement by 25%), I think even throw mine can do the job just as good.
Rams toolbelt counterpart is nice though it does have that going for it.
while i haven’t used this in quite a while, I think you guys are missing an important point. It’s not just a ‘knockback’, it hits with a ‘blowout’ or ‘launch’ which puts the person on their back, similar to what overcharged shot does. It’s the difference between a daze and a stun to me. Which makes things like 100nades, or jumpshot even easier to land. Not to mention it can hit fairly hard as well.
I do agree that it could use a 5 -10 second cooldown reduction tho.
Look at http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Launch
I could see a so called ‘Pinball’ build with PBR/thumper turret/bomb kit and rifle overcharge
from what ive noticed in differences between blowout and push/knockback is that blowout disables you slightly longer. to break those stuns you cant just mash your stun break, you have to wait until you are done flopping and are on your back and then stun break. if you stun break at the beginning youve wasted it. this is very noticeable in the ice elemental mini boss in the svanir fractal
Ram skill is great. What is not great is the coolddown that takes for eternity. Im having FT for control purpose now as SD user. After this patch have to take look into EG…
