engi rely on turrets to much ?
welp i never expected this thread
head here to discuss wvw without fear of infractions
… im not even sure what to say to this to be honest :/ im pretty speechless
Turrets are not the only option… there are full turret builds… and turret explodo builds… and builds with no turrets at all like the HGH elixar builds. Many many engies find little value in turrets, and that won’t change even with the bug fixes and new traits.
Turret bunker is only one option… even with in turrets you can have turret condi heavy builds and turret direct dmg heavy builds.
Engi is often described as a jack of all trades class… and more then the others it is true.
Turrets are popular right now because 2 of the 5 new traits are great turret traits. They also fixed a few bugs that have made them work quite a bit better. Also a lot of people looking for new builds anyway as HGH was pretty popular, but with the change to runes you can’t get that +75% boon duration from spec and runes anymore.
If you are level 80 now you can spin the engi traits around and find we have a ton of very viable builds. IMO engi is a great hybrid of pure dmg and condi application… with fantastic access to CC through turrets and gadgets.
…The three most damaging Turrets, traited with Rifled Turret Barrels, deal less damage combined than a Weapon Power 1 version of the worst-DPS autoattack of any Engineer weapon used by a naked, otherwise traitless level 80, with pretty much any and all considerations made to try to make Turrets not look like they deal piddly damage, including ignoring minor traits that give unavoidable boosts.
Even myself, with a full Turret loadout and gear picked to improve my survivability, mostly gaining Power and Condition Damage from conversion traits like Blood Injection, deal more damage than my Turrets.
Therefore, I’m pretty sure this is a troll thread…unless it’s entirely based on experiences at low levels, before Turrets start to fall behind due to lack of scaling.
If the latter: Learn to use the Bomb Kit. It’s the highest-damage AA Kit, I’m pretty sure.
whats a good pvp build ?
i have ben running a p/s turrets and wrench kit build with rabid amulets and undead runes .. swap out last 2 utility for anything
cleric is fun to for the healing
traits 0/0/5/3/6 dodge build …. it is great for staying alive and adding support damage
but i cant 1v1 any one with out the support damage of my turrets .
great for killing thieves but nothing else lol
i get wiped by necros
any builds anyone has ben having fun with lately

Thred should have ended with this lol.
But really, turrets are not the defining trait of an engineer… at all. People are using them now with “hope” that there even close to viable.
Some people have had luck using them as utility in pvp builds (jebro)
lol kk …
no builds any one can recommend ?
Depends on what you really want to do, I know people always say that but with engi it’s so true. This professions strongest trait is that it can be customized for any occasion.
PVE zerker grenade build still probably.
PVP depends on if your a point holder, bunker, roamer, you get the idea.
WVW depends on if your a zerger, defender, roamer…
I do t like the way kits look ( lame reason I know) so I run a rifle SD build, 0/4/0/4/6 build editors aren’t updated so I can’t link the full build. I do well with roaming in WVW and ok in PVE.
i can recommend the build in my sig for wvw but i dont make recommendations for pvp

ok ya i guess i should keep that in mind .
that they can be customized for anything
i guessed i focused to much on movement /blocks/ knocks/quick skill recharges.
just to fight thieves.
i will try some rifle builds .
the engi seems very situational.
so i will try a different situation and build around it .
with the idea in mind-… if i am planing to be defending attacking or what ever.
well ty for the help i think u sent me in the right direction
i like the turrets
just not how i do SO MUCH less damage with out the turrets
90% percentile opinion.
Nades, bomb, power rifle, FT, are decent damage dealers.
this is a great class XD
it is really strategic and your strategy in varies situations is what makes it strong
u have a lot of access to a verity of conditions that can be used as a weakness to specific classes.
i am fully enjoying this class
He said he was new and initially lots of things look interesting as an engineer.
Turrets really don’t do as much damage as they would appear early.
I do use them sometimes when sieging or defending as the reflective shields and buffs can be incredibly useful but then I switch fast.
Conditions are probably the basic engineer build (but we have many other options) focusing on 2-3 kits and typically grenades, bombs, and elixir gun.
ya XD all ways swapping utilities real fast out of combat and coming back with a better plan
this is a fun class and it shines where u make it shine
but it really is kinda a support class .
but a really strategic support class all i can say is i am having fun

caveman, also learn the many combos that Engi’s can proc. We are combo machines.
If you do wish to bunker in sPvP, just check out the build in my signature. Plenty of evades, blocks, and somewhat decent condition cleanses. An example of what in can do:
In my most recent match I noticed my team running around in one big group. Therefore, they were only able to hold one point at a time. So I took my Bunker Engi to far point and planted myself there. My enemies consited of condi necro, condi engi, condi warrior, and power mesmer. They would normally come at me 2-3 at a time. They could not take the point from me, and while I’m distracting 3 players out of a 5 man team, the rest of my team is capping the other two points. Match won, much Q.Q and Engi OP complaints ensued, followed by my lol’s.
ya will do
i just started to to find some combos
but i bet i can chain more skills together than i am
well i am excited to get to lvl 80 to play in wvw
i find this as a much more fun support class than my guard
i tryed to look at the link but it didn’t work for some reason ?
i still have a learning curve to beat.
but u sent me in the right direction ty
