engi vs necro ?
Depends on which build they use. Necros have a lot of advantages against conditions builds, because the heal the will be using heals them for every condition on them, after clearing them. The class itself excels in condition manipulation.
Minion Master: Kill the blood fiend, perma kite the others and burn down the necro (The necro can’t remove conditions from their minions at the moment!).
If they are Condition spec I’m not really sure. I haven’t played my Necro Condition spec enough to tell you its weaknesses
Powermancer: This is a tough build because they use DS to its full extent. However, they’re usually very squishy(with a large health pool) from using a lot of zerker gear. be ready to clear cripples and roots. They will root you or cripple you, drop a well down and watch you melt. You need to get out of the wells are quickly as possible.
I played both a Condi-Engi and a Condi-Necro, and I figured the best way to fight them as a Condi-Engi is not to boost your Condition Duration too much. Many of the conditions the Engi can inflict have a rather short duration, but that’s good against Necros because it gives them less time to send them back to you. Condi-Engi functions best as a hybrid build with moderately high power and a high crit rate with might stacking from Signet of Battle/Strength, Juggernaut and HGH. Pack a lot of fast and easy condition removal. Stuff like Elixir C or Cleaning Formula 409 should do the trick. Necros also are not very mobile and weak against CC, so stuff like the Flamethrower push, Personal Battering Ram or Slick Shoes should be good against them.
necro is the worst matchup for condi engi. you can play like ninja and still lose to that fear spamming garbage
what about automated response that skill works always when u get to 25% hp or is there icd ?
The problem is that Automated Response does not remove the conditions you already have, it just prevents new ones from coming in as far as I know.
They also have up to 3 condition transfers (that use their condition duration/damage). They are the master of condition manipulation.
Correct, AR does not remove any conditions but it also doesn’t have a cooldown. In other words, no new conditions will be applied to you while you are under 25% hp. It’s a good trait for a duel with a condition build.
It is very hard to beat a necro as a condition engineer. Rifle engineers do pretty well against them though.

Thats my experience too. The problem with AR is that i dislike to run around at 25% hp. Necros are way to hard right now and they just have to spam skill on cd for that.
You still can beat them on a condition spec if you kite correctly and elixir gun is a must have for this. if i encounter one from far range i change my food from Pizza to lemongrass soup, then they become alot easier.
In a close range situation a good necro who knows his fear locks will probably win.
I use 30/10/0/20/10 condi nade/FT/EG. And with that setup you overcome necros by
- Start with some max range nades. The worse, even average necros drop some marks infront of you cos they think you are gonna push into them. And scepter skills won’t reach.
- Max range really helps against stuff like Signet of Spite. They often just pop it early, but then you can disengage! You will not survive close if it hits you.
- Quite soon you will have to push closer to land your CC or better nades. Staff skills are easy to dodge because of obvious cast time. Make a human female necro and learn the animations, especially for some of the killers like corrupt boon, signet. I like to dodge during my push to close range after the max range nades, and then Acid Blast my kitten out once on top of the necro. They might miss a ground target like that.
- Do not overstack (duration) your condis, mainly poison and burning. Their heal will remove all of them, no matter how long. So don’t use pistol #2 if you already used Poison Nades, or EG #3. Reapply as the drop off.
- Drag it out (abit)! You can die very fast against a fearlock, but if you die with using your turret heal just once, you probably didn’t give your all. Your goal is to use Healing turret twice, and only let necro heal once (they drag it out closer to 33% HP always, you should be using way before)!
- Consume conditions is one of the few healing skills that are easy to interupt. Lately I’ve been really good about interupting it, and that basicly wins it for me. If necro is below 50%, and you are doing good 4+ condis on him, he will heal very soon. Get the CC lock going! Condi pressure → Throw shield daze →DPSDPS moving closer → flamethrower KB interupt →DPS DPS → Shield KB → profit.
- For me the fights are always one sided (against better necros)- Either I get totally destroyed by a fearlock and signet (no max range, no disengage → death). Or I get the starting right and I follow it up with CC lock under 50% hp interupting all heal attempts. They don’t get the ball rolling as easily if you control how the opening goes but you can die in seconds if jumped/cooldowns.
As a necro in my pov, what Sabull said above is your only chance.
For necros is very easy to win most (if not all) condition vs condition fights.
Signet of Spite can be devastating but a good necro will make sure it lands on you so nothing you can do about it, try to remove those if you can.
If the necro has corrupt boon on his set ,you MUST los/dodge it somehow.
Try to avoid him (range or los) close to your 25% ,he ll try to max you with conditions around 30%, to keep them running after 25. A good fear chain there will probably kill you though and it happens a lot.
Necros have so many ways to remove or manipulate conditions (send them back at you or using them to heal) so the chances are slim and you need to play it perfect and/or he make mistakes.
I play both classes and on my Necro I have never lost even 1v2 against other condition builds. (accept another Necro friend of mine) now I have beaten some condition Necromancers on my Engineer but I’m going to assume they were not all that good. Necromancer is the king of conditions and IMO rightfully so.
On the other hand I lol at condition Necros when I’m running my SD burst build. So it’s a give and take some builds will naturally have an advantage over others and condition necros have a clear advantage over condition engineer. All in all condition engi is quite strong if done right.
My advice, don’t waste time spacing for fights with necros. Your strong in other ways, you should see the posts on other forums about how to “deal” with p/s condition engine lol.
Do what you do well… Well!
I play a condi necro and there are a few things you can do that can frustrate them. They have two glaring weaknesses an engineer is good at exploiting.
They have poor mobility. An engy doesn’t. You can simply remove yourself from their reach if you want. Cripple and chill are very effective against a necro. Don’t let him stand there and cast. Force him to move, he isn’t good at it.
They also don’t deal well with stuns. Stuns (and dazes) are really effective. Most necros only carry one stun breaker. And they also don’t have access to vigor. So they won’t be evading your attacks as much as another class would.
On my necro, you being aggressive makes the fight much harder. It makes me use skills defensively that I would prefer to use to kill you with, like fears and chills. If you let me sit back and have time to spam condis on you, you are playing into my hands. I only have to watch your condition removals and below 50% health to turn it up, load you up with conditions and fear chain you to death. But if you are aggressive and make me back pedal a bit, that is much harder to do.
