Hi, I was wanting to know how an Engineer can dish out more condition’s than a necromancer? I don’t run an Engineer, so I was seeing what people think or know about this.

I don’t see you asking how can a necromancer instagib all the veterans in a camp and leave the supervisor at 20% health, 5 seconds after the pull.

necromancers have long cooldowns. when a necromancer applies conditions, it’s a lot of stacks at once for huge condition burst damage. when an engineer applies conditions, it’s a smaller number of conditions but over a longer period of time because our cooldowns aren’t as long. we have more sustained condition damage.

OP your post is too vague to give any proper answer. If you mean more conditions I think it’s on pair, probably a bit below of what a nerco can do, I know I can dish out 8-10 different conditions in my first few opening moves and then stack some of it with explosives/crits. but we don’t have a button to apply all at once.

In regards to workable pvp/wvw builds, necro has more bleeding, more weakness, less burning, no confusion, more torment (engineer doesn’t have torment).

Necro also has two condition flips, something the engineer doesn’t have. So in a condi vs. condi fight, it will appear that the necro has vastly better condition application, when in other fights it’s pretty even.

@ Arlette, I didn’t make this thread to start argument. So, if you’re going to do so, I believe you should be the one to “Butt Out!”. I made it so I could get an idea of engineer build’s and see if I counter it some how.
;)

First I want to say thank you for your the feed back.

This was in wvw. I was chasing and fighting with this Engineer for at least 10 min. I ended up getting the advantage, because I gave everything I had as soon as we started fighting, so he started running from me. So, I gave chase. I suppose he was re-cooling his skill’s or something, then turns around and smote me then and there. I was full health of 23k+ through most of the fight. I know that full health has nothing to do with it, it’s just he had to have done more than 23K damage to kill me in one hit like that.

Yes, I understand Necro’s have signet of spite, condition flips, condition removers, and can dish out a lot of bleeding and torment. I can dish out my conditions pretty quickly, he seemed to be removing them faster than I could keep them on him and apply them to me. I’m a condition/fear mancer so I don’t see how he was able to reverse it so well.

I wont deny I got my kitten kicked, because I did. I just wanted to know how he did it. Thanks again for yall’s help.

Conditions are debuffs that all classes can apply through class skills, traits and gear procs.

It is very likely that the engineer you faced used his many skills, traits and gear procs to apply these conditions.

Practically speaking, Engi doesn’t have the ability to massively cleanse and/or flip conditions onto an enemy. The most we can do is trait 409 and spam elixirs which, if one is C, can cleanse up to 6 conditions, but that would require a 100% elixir build, which is terrible. More likely, your foe popped 2 elixirs and cleansed 3 conditions, Transmute trait procced and cleansed another, and even 6/6 Lyssa rune effect.

As for application, there are a lot of ways for a condition Engi to apply conditions. Countless bleeds, poisons, confusions, blinds, vulnerabilities, and burns. Not to mention the possibility of Perplexity or Torment runes.

if you’re a necro and a condi engi focuses you, just use kitten like plague signet and dagger offhand and consume conditions and the fight is won then and there

I’ve been reading and there is a one shot kill hack, that now that I think about it has happened to me many times. Usually by warriors. So, that’s what I’m thinking now. This punk hacked.

Im not so naive to think there arent hacks like that but these types of accusations without proof are the reason I left FPS games.
In BF 3, BF 2, BF 1942, etc, not only was I accused of hacking but people that I personally knew that didnt hack were accused as well.
Its seems to me, that players arent willing to accept that people may be better than them and use this as a crutch to massage their ego.

I know I’m not the best, quite frankly I don’t want to be the best. It’s just the game is so broken now, no one will be able to tell if it’s a hack or glitch anyways. So yeah, I could be completely wrong and ignoring what you said hack and glitches do exist in GW2.

To be fair, there has been an extremely vast amount of players using this exploit. Not only does it take you out. It bypasses the need for stomping. Quit literally you are running along at full health one second, and the next second, you are dead. Not downed, but dead. The worst part is, they do not even have a manner to report players directly for this type of action, or such actions as seeking out glitched map areas that register you as invulnerable, but you can report someone for harsh language.

I have been playing for quite some time… And never even herd of this kind of “hacking”

Also I’m a server admin (RL jobs… Ugh) and I can tell you that while it’s not impossible to hack into antes servers, it would be quite a feat to find your data and change just that. Also there would be no “reporting” needed as Anet would be instantly aware of any changes made to server side data by a 3rd party.

Exploits are one thing, hacking is so improbable that it borders on impossible. It’s not hacking there’s absolutely no argument there, sorry.

I wanted to make a separate thread about this but I couldn’t (gotta love forum moderators and their ways of punishment for whatever reason first pops in their mind), so I’m posting here. With the upcoming changes and my dearly beloved guardian being pushed further into the role of support for the zerg, I decided that I’d rather bench him and roll my lvl 20 engineer as a main. My reservations coming mostly from everyone saying that Engis have low condition cleansing and I want to ask, just how low? Also does Engi have any other tools to compensate for that low condition cleanse and mitigate the incoming kitten storm of conditions that the post patch meta is going to turn to?

It may be an exploit, that is true. Calling something a “Hack” just happens to be a general MMO term. Either way, if you haven’t hear of this, you must not read the “game bugs” or “general forums” sections at all, because there have been threads all over those sections for weeks. I read about it for quit some time before it evened happened to me. There are video links of it occuring posted in various locations as well.
